Default the last two years

i love the facts of life, and of course Mrs. Garrett, but i really love the last two seasons!! I think beverly ann is funny!! and seeing the girls grown up, and facing the real world i just think its great. I really think the last two seasons are some of the best shows, like the murder mystery show? a classic!! blair gets in a car accident, very moving, you really see how much jo cares for blair and watching that you see how much their friendship has grown. Anybody else think the last 2 years were great?

I liked Beverly Ann too. I honestly don't see what role Mrs. Garrett could've played in season 8 and 9 anyways, the girls no longer demanded a maternal figure... and Beverly wasn't maternal, but more or less an "older more experienced big sister" for the girls. I don't like season 9 much, but I don't think it had anything to do with Cloris, but the addition or Pippa and the general consensus that the show was on it's way out.

I love Beverly Ann, too!! I feel she came along at the perfect time in the show. The 8th season is definitely superior to the 9th. I loved the 60's show, the Twilight Zone where Blair got "Dippety-Do'd" and I also love when Blair makes that speech to her dad after took the rap for his father's insider trading. Interesting bit of trivia re that episode: the last two scenes were taped several weeks after the episode was completed and edited into the show due a change of heart on the part of the writers and producers on how the plot show progress. :-)
The 9th season has some real clunkers, especially the one where Jo tries to talk her suicidal co-worker down from a ledge!

sorry -- this is my first post and in my excitement, I made a mistake:
I mean "should progress" not "show progress"

I think the last season, everyone (except maybe Natalie and Blair) seemed to have a "you mean I'm STILL doing this?" attitude and you could tell just how ready they were to let the show go. The last season suffered from too many "starring Lisa Whelchel as Blair" or "starring Mindy Cohn as Natalie" or "starring Nancy McKeon as Jo", towards the end it seemed like most episodes revolved exclusively around one character or another, as opposed to actually being the four of them.

And adding Pippa to the show didn't work, season 7 and 8 had more than enough Andy than to give him a girlfriend type.

You are so right. It's especially evident in the scene where Jo visits Blair at Eastland in the finale. Nancy McKeon looks utterly bored in her scene and like she couldnt wait to get out of there!
And Sherrie Krenn could not act! "Crack off, ya headbanging veggie brain" Puh-leeze!! I hated when she said "oh croakie!"
and "Ooo-roo!"

Speaking of Andy, I never understood why they didnt do an "age progression" on him for the opening credits for Seasons 8 & 9 like they did for all the other characters (excluding Beverly Ann, of course). When he came on the show, he was just a tiny little skinny kid and grew up to look older and chunkier by the end of the series...it would have been neat to see 3 clips of him in a row "growing up."

Default your all right.

Season Nine is embarassing to watch. 90% of the episodes are terrible.

Season Eight however is much better. Having Bev around helped alot - seeing the girls role their eyes and dismiss Bev was much better than seeing them sucking up Mrs. G's ars. Mrs G did have her good moments though. Bev had the element of surprise on her side - you didn't know what crazy think she would say or do, Mrs G on the other hand was consistently 'perfect' (she did throw me in We Get Letters until the crappy ending).

Blair: Wow,beverly ann, that actually made sense!
Ooh, I'm getting a chill!
Bev: Well, put on a sweater because there's plenty more where that came from!

Bev: I'm named after my grandfather too! Boris Ann.

Bev: I loved my high school reunion. I left knowing that all my classamates had gotten old, bald and fat -- and they all left knowing I was a nuclear physicist.(sp?)

Blair: Oh, Beverly Ann, you must have heard wrong. Jo would never sell her bike.
Bev: But I thought I heard her quote a price on the phone and then she left!
Blair: Let me tell you something about Jo and her bike; she took it with her on her 1st date, she polishes it every weekend. Theyre inseparable, like peanut butter & jelly, ham and eggs...
Bev: Like Roy and Trigger!
Blair: bingo!
Bev: And Catholics.
Blair: Right.
Bev: And left.
Blair: Stop!
Bev: And go!
Blair: Get out of here!
Bev: and come again! oh, I LOVE this game!

Looking back,FOL would have been so much better off ending at Season 8. First of all,it had a touching final episode when Jo says goodbye to everyone before she goes to CA, and there was no Pippa or Casey, which were characters the show really didn't need. They robbed the 4 main girls of screen time and dialog as far as I'm concerned. Also, the way the ended FOL just to have a pilot for a spin-off was lame. It wouldn't have been so bad if the pilot had made the fall schedule, even if for just one season like Golden Palace, but... The show did not have a feeling of "closure" when it left the air...

the best was when she told the girls how she walked in on her parents having sex. 'Beveryly Ann we told never to come in here without knocking....oh my god'

that was a great BEV line.

oh and don't forget when she scammed those cabin guys in a game of poker! hah.

I forgot about that! That was great. I love how she drover her Winnebego all the way up the mountain, but got caught in a snow drift and had to walk -- her facial expression in the cabin window when arriving when priceless!

Default Beverly Ann

hey mary5,

you forgot a line in the episode Another Room

after stop and go they say

Blair: Please
Bev. Thank You

Blair: Get outta here.
Bev: and come again oh I love this game.

Also my favorite parts are the graduation episode where bev is trying to arrange the divorced parents so they don't get in a fight and she can't make up her mind and says "Oh, what the hell, we'll have a buffet."

I love the episode Adventures in Baileysitting

Bev: What's your name little girl
Spanish Girl: Kay
Bev. Kay, why thats a pretty name and what is your last name?
Spanish Girl: Komo

Bev: Kay Komo, why don't we go look up the Komo's in the telephone book.

(Every one did you know kay komo (spelling???) mean's in spanish What and Why, Kay is not the little girls name. I love it. I didn't realize it until a friend who is in college spanish saw the episode (by the way and loved it) and told me, I said oh, that's why the audience was laughing. I thought it was from beverly Ann's look.

then blair gets on the phone and says

"we'll bring Kay Komo to you."

She just said we'll bring what, why to you. That's Great..

In the ep. "Ready or Not"

I love the part right in the beginning

Bev: Thank you for shopping here. Oh, and I love that perfume your wearing.
(customer leaves)
Bev: My GOD she smelled like a wet collie.

I love Adventures in Baileysitting! I remember in the uncut NBC version there were two funny lines that were cut out for the reruns: when Andy comes home with "Kay Como" he tells Tootie and Blair the story about how he lost Bailey at the matinee. Tootie says,"Why did you let her eat all that candy!!??" - and Andy goes,"She was buying!" ...and when Blair first finds out Bailey is missing, she tells Andy, "...and that's when you picked up Kay Como." - then later to the police, she says "We'll bring Kay Como to you."
