will never be released, and if they were, would probably never sell in the double digits?

The following are a few shows that I doubt will come out on DVD anytime soon... but I'd buy it tho I know not too many others would.

VR.5 - short-lived sci-fi show on Fox in 1995, only lasted about 12 episodes. I was really hooked on this show, but it flopped and was cancelled. Although Anthony Stewart Head did wind up going onto a very successful run as Giles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Lori Singer was good here too (in what was to be her comeback role) but I haven't seen her since. Sadly enough, the series ended on such a cliffhanger, that we never got to see what happened after Sydney was found unconscious after going into the VR.5 one last time. Since it has the whole sci-fi cult thing, maybe a DVD will happen one day

Just Say Julie - back in the day when MTV actually showed music-related programming, Julie Brown (the red head "Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun", not Downtown Julie Brown) had the funniest series on the network. Any fan of late 80's music would love her series, which people rarely credit for inspiring Beavis And Butt-Head. Her show was very Pee-Wee ish in terms of sets, I would certainly buy this if it ever came out. She had a lot of special guest-stars also, and who can ever forget the way she made fun of Madonna and Paula Abdul.

Life With Roger - I dunno why, but I was hooked on this sitcom. It only lasted one season on WB in 96-97. Surprisingly, Mike O'Malley was able to be something on this show that he's tried to be ever since, but hasn't been able to be... FUNNY. It was a very Odd Couple-like premise, the kind that's been done before and since, but I thought the show was hysterical and managed to tape a couple episodes once I found out WB was canning it. This is definately a show that should be revisited, especially by fans of Yes Dear to see that Mike is actually a great comedic actor if given decent material. Meredith Scott Lynn also stole a lot of the scenes on this show.

Good topic. There are lots of shows I'd love to see on DVD.

"The Tick" - the animated series and the short lived FOX live action version. Both were great.

"Get A Life" - Chris Elliot's hysterical sitcom.

"The Equalizer" - I loved this show. Hallmark still shows reruns on the weekends, but I need more!

"Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" - Arguably the funniest show ever on Comedy Central.

"Jack Of All Trades" - Short lived half hour adventure/comedy show, part of the syndicated "action pack" from a few years ago starring Bruce Campbell, the greatest actor of his generation.

if you're talking about the show with Patrick Warburton and Nestor Carbonell, that's available on DVD now. I saw it a few weeks ago at Best Buy

Yeah, I picked it up. I believe it has an unaired episode and at least one commentary track, perhaps more.

My list of shows that I would by on DVD that will never, ever be released would be extensive. Let us just say that if it is rare and short-lived and were to be released on DVD, odds are I would purchase it.

The Tortellis
Short lived (13 Episodes) Cheers spinoff following the life of Carla's ex-husband Nick Tortelli, his wife Loretta, his son Anthony, and his daughter-in-law Annie. It was about Nick and Anthony running a TV Repair Shop in Las Vegas. One episode featured a guest appearance by Norm and Cliff from Cheers. I've never seen it.... but its on my top 10 list of shows I want on DVD.

a lot of "MASH" fans want "After MASH"-the short-lived (2 seasons, although it should have only been on 13 weeks!) released on DVD, along with "WALTER"0another "MASH" spinoff, that only had 1 episode made-the pilot, and that was only shown once in a couple areas of the country at something like 10 or 10:30 pm, in the middle of July, or something. It had Gary Burghoff revising Radar, this time as a cop.

But getting back to the title of this topic, I'd like to see the pilot of a show from 1973 called "The Questor Tapes". It was written by Gene Rodenberry (the creator of "Star Trek") and was going to be a series on one of the networks (I think CBS) but, for the series, they were insisting on shortening the title to "Questor" and making all these other changes, and Gene Rodennberry got so mad and disgusted, he just gave up on the whole thing. The pilot, "The Questor Tapes" was shown during the summer as a TV movie, and that's the last anyone ever heard of it.
CBS replaced it with a HORRIBLE "Planet of The Apes" series that only lasted 13 weeks.
I read about this in Rodenberrys autobiography.

I'd also like to see the footage avialible of "Kooks Tour" which was going to be a TV series for The 3 Stooges, in 1968. But, halfway through filming of the pilot, Larry (the fuzzy-haired one) suffered a stroke.

Which, ironically enough, has been released on DVD. I personally love the POTA series, but I can understand why you would not.

I second AfterMASH, from what I have seen of it the series is worthy of a DVD release. And W*A*L*T*E*R should see the light of day again if only for historical reasons. It really was not that good.

treky, there is a novelization of "The Questor Tapes" out there. I have a copy but have yet to read it. I have never seen the pilot but would like to, along with all the other pilots Roddenberry was involved with. That would make a neat DVD set.

I hope that Square Pegs is someday released on DVD. However, as of now, Sony doesn't think there is a large enough audiance for it. Square Pegs is such a special show that deserves to be perserved. This is a series that did more in 20 episodes then many long running shows do in 120 episodes.

They're stupid if that's true. I'd bet they'd do well just from people interested in revisiting Sarah Jessica Parker pre-Sex In The City. I would bet that this will be released eventually.

I have volume 2 of Get A Life on dvd, so that must mean there is a volume 1 also

, but I don't have that one yet! Volume 2 has these eps:Zoo Animals On Wheels, Married, The Big City, and Neptune 2000. Look for Rhino Home Video if you're interested. Unlike some other dvd collections of tv shows they actually have the original theme music on this. I have some videos of Get A Life where they have some hokey instrumental that doesn't even sound like it fits the opening. Another thing I love about the dvd is the fact that you can turn off the laugh track and actually hear the crew cracking up in the background!

Yes, you can turn the laugh track off. But I am not sure what you meant by Hollywood adding the stars to the title. I have seen the movie referred to as MASH, M.A.S.H and M*A*S*H. You can see several movie posters here.

The series was officially called M*A*S*H although many refer to it as MASH. AfterMASH did away with the stars. The name for the Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals in Korea/Vietnam/where was MASH, an acronym. So I suppose Hollywood added the stars to the title of the series but that does not change the fact that the title is M*A*S*H.

why wouldn't Sony think theres a large audience? The show has a huge cult following, and unlike most one-season-wonders, has had a long life in syndication. I'd say after The Honeymooners, Square Pegs is probably the best loved and most popular one-season-wonder in history. Even BEFORE Sex And The City turned Sarah Jessica Parker into a superstar, this show was a cult classic.

I would buy Get Smart and Mission Impossible, my favorite sitcom and drama respectively. For other shows I might buy a season here and there like the Norman Lear shows, or rent them from the library or something. I'd also probably get The White Shadow's last season since there are episodes from that year that I've never seen. Other things I'd try to get a look at for free form the library.
