I got to thinking one day about how good an actor DVD was and I realized he did one thing better
than any actor I"ve ever seen. He was a master at talking to himself. (Hey, me too.) But, not only was he the best and funniest actor at doing this, I couldn't think of one other comic great who ever did this at all. Don Knotts...nobody. DeNiro did his "You talkin' to me" bit and DVD took care of the rest. I love those bits. Classic stuff. Can ya think of anyone else? And didn't ya love 'em all? |

I definitely agree with you! Dick was (I guess we should say "is" since he's still with us!) a great actor. I remember reading in one of my books about the show where Carl Reiner said that another thing Dick could do really well was play one end of a phone conversation. Carl said that whenever Rob was supposed to be on the phone with someone, he would swear there really was someone on the other end because of how good Dick was at timing his lines. I just thought I'd share that, LOL. Kristen ------------------ (After Mary's famous job interview) Lou Grant:You know what? You've got spunk! Mary Richards:Well, yes. Lou Grant:I HATE SPUNK!!! I loved when Rob would be thinking out loud and you never thought "gee this guy is crazy". It was especially funny when he was scared or nervous, like the episode where he's working late at the office and keeps hearing strange noises; or when he was the last one left in the cabin where Alan Brady was really taping a new show.
