Do any of you honestly believe that 2 people who have pretty much nothing in common can have a good relationship? Like say, you don't like the same music or the same TV shows or one person likes to drink and party and the other doesn't. Is it just a lame cliche or does it actually happen for the best?

I don't believe in that, along with love at first sight. But really, it depends on what you do and don't agree on. You definately do need to have the same type of personality and general stuff like that, but interests like TV...I guess it depends, I don't really know :/

Go watch those 'opposites attract' episodes of Maury, one time there was some rocker headbanger guy going out with a conservative extreme christian.

I do believe so..... the other person can maybe interest the other into something they enjoy... or vise versa
(Hey dawsongirl - do you happen to be a Dawson's Creek fan?)

That doesn't work. Take my word for it and don't learn the hard way.

I was thinking that wouldn't work. I mean, what sane girl sends her boyfriend to a bar by himself just because she doesn't want to go? Open invitation for cheating IMO. |

Daaaamn straight I do. There is no doubt in my mind. Now, whether it works out or not is another story. Though I do believe it's possible. And Cathy, there's nothing wrong with being a dreamer.

Not only that, but you've got to deal with the coming home drunk and/or otherwise intoxicated. Also the lectures. The "good" half of the relationship will constantly be lecturing the other half. |

I can't speak for others, but I couldn't be with someone who had vastly different interests, beliefs or a value system. I love animals, so I wouldn't want to be with someone who disliked animals. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker, but I'd prefer an animal lover.
My husband and I have been together for so long that it's hard to figure where he leaves off and I begin. We are individuals, but we have a lot in common....political beliefs, a love of movies, etc. |
