Default Chuck

Chuck went upstairs one day and never came back down.

There were 2 different Chucks. One who looked a little like Richie. And one who had straight brown hair (this one, I believe showed up in many subsequent episodes as an extra).

Fans of Happy Days should appreciate this

Default How many Chucks were there?

This has to be the most asked question. There were only TWO. A picture is worth a THOUSAND words. Attached is the EVIDENCE!
Who is Gavan O'Herlihy? Go to: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0641398/
Who is Randolph Roberts? Go to: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0731505/

antman, Rob is referring to Chuck as played by Ric Carrot on the pilot that airs on "Love, American Style".

Poor Chuck - stuck out there on the Island of Misfit TV Characters, along with Judy Winslow, Carl Dixon, Brendan Lambert (Step By Step), among others.

Was the Chuck portrayed by Randolph Roberts the guy whose date loses her fake ponytail because he's putting the convertible top down on the car in the early opening sequence?

WOW! Your right, I didn't think about the pilot. Good call.
