Default When were the Critics wrong about TV Shows? I know they were wrong about the

Jeffersons and THat's My Mama

IN 1974, critics called That's My Mama a great show. Only lasted a season and a half.

In 1975, critics said the Jeffersons was a AWFUL show, they said the theme STUNK and that George was snobbish. And that the show would not last. The show lasted from 75-85.

Anyone else know when TV critics were wrong?

The Critics never gave new shows a chance. Most shows got bad reviews in their first season. These four long-running shows got bad 1st season reviews:

The Facts of Life
Who's the Boss?
Full House
Everybody Loves Raymond

Well the first season of Facts of Life was kind of weird. There were like 15 teenage girls living under one roof while one of them always wore skates-LOL

Reginald VelJohnson said that critics thought "Family Matters" wouldn't make it past the first season. It of course made 9 seasons.

All the critics loved "Andy Richter Controls the Universe", but it only lasted two mid seasons.

The videos are numbered but the early ones aren't as good. #3 is where I really get going.

Probably because in season one, Family Matters was a laid back comedy.

The critics didn't like According to Jim, and it's doing well.

The critics called Laverne and Shirley "tv junk food". I don't think the critics liked Three's Company either.

Critics are stupid and hypocritical sometimes.

But any fan of The Dick Van Dyke Show, Cheers or Seinfeld knows perfectly well that if it weren't for critics, none would be what they are today.

Are you sure? I thought it was more than 7.

Lets see:

1. Blair
2. Nancy
3. Sue Ann
4. Tootie
5. Molly
6. Cindy
7. Natalie

There was 7. But 7 is still a lot.

I don't agree with TV critics about Wings. I don't think it is a bad Cheers rip-off at all. I think it's such a funny and well-written show and I'd rather watch Wings than some other critically-acclaimed favorites out there.

I don't agree with critics about Friends. Good riddance to bad rubbish, in my opinion.
