The finales of "Friends" and "Frasier" have gotten me in the mood to talk about other finales as well. Since "NewsRadio" was cancelled and didn't get a big hype, I thought we, here, could give it a big hype. So let's go back .... back .... back ....
2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 May 4th, 1999 NewsRadio Episode # 97. "New Hamphire" Starring Dave Foley, Maura Tierney, Andy Dick, Vicki Lewis, Stephen Root, Joe Rogan and Jon Lovitz Here's one of those retrospectives before the finale. I'd imagine it opening with the very first scene of the very first show. Dave Nelson walks into the lobby talks to the security guard then realizes he's in the wrong building. The security guard says "Welcome to New York!" Then it would burst into a fast paced montage with the NewsRadio theme music. Clips featuring Dave Nelson: Clips featuring Lisa Miller: Clips featuring Matthew Brock: Clips featuring Mr. Jimmy James: -"These people mean the world to me" scene from the Station Sale episode. Clips featuring Beth: Clips featuring Joe Garrelli: Clips featuring Max Louis: (He's in the finale, so he has to be in the clip show promoting the finale.) Then Beth would say how much she misses Catherine from the episode "Copy Machine." -"It's like Catherine's gone. And now we hardly ever talk about her anymore. (Starts to cry) I miss Catherine." (That's our segway into the Catherine clips. We need a segway for Catherine and Bill since they weren't in the finale.) Clips featuring Catherine Duke: Clips featuring Bill McNeal: Clips from "Space" and "Titanic": The special would close with either: 1.) The ending scene from "Led Zeppelin II" where the staff is sitting around the table after the fire had been put out. 2.) Pick Your own ending scene. Please add clips the special would show for the certain characters. As well as your thoughts on the series finale.

I think NewsRadio was totally deserving of a proper series finale and a clip show. While I do like the finale, it wasn't origionally intended to be the series finale.

If NR had been able to do a real finale, I think they would have had Catherine return. Maybe there'd be a scene where she meets Max, he comes on to her, and she slaps him. Maybe Catherine could recognize the resemblence between Max and the crazy guys from "Our 50th Episode" and "Jumper". Then, after the staff starts talking about it, Max would come out and say that he's a triplet and that he and his brothers look alike.
That could've been a subplot during the finale. |
