Angry So mad I could spit tacks!

Today I set up my bank account so I could do everything online and see my statements and I look back and it says $81.78 for AOL, yes that's what I said AOL!

I called them up and asked them what that's about and they told me that was from my brother using dialup! He's been using the screen name I made for him on my account on his computer at his appartment using dial up. My account comes with 5 free hours of dialup and he's gone beyond that!

$81.78 for a service that is $14.95 a month! That's INSANE
and I took his screen name off my account. Geez I try to be nice letting him use my account and he craps all over me! and he WILL be paying me back for this!

The bank statement page doesn't go back any furthur than February which is where I found it. He's damn lucky I can't see anything else.

Make that $116.78! That isnt counting my regular $14.95. These are separate charges! There was another charge for $35

If he doesn't pay me back he won't touch this PC again and if mom sticks up for the ahole again there will be a brawl.

That sucks. If something like that happened to me I would say to the person, "It is unfortunate that you have taken advantage of me and running up this bill. You have two options. You can pay me back or if you refuse, I'll take you to small claims court. One way or the other, I will be reimbursed."

And what is there to stick up for? I can't think of any logical reason why someone would want to defend him for what he did.

I'm just glad I signed up for the online banking thing otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. I can't believe that it's just insane 116.78? for AOL? COME ON PLEASE! You know I got laid off 3 days after that first charge that just pisses me off. It's bad enough to do it when I am working but come on geez. I need all the money I have for bills.

Isn't there anyway you can get your dialup with unlimited access? I have that, otherwise I wouldn't hardly be online at all.

yes but that's more money. There's no reason why he can't just get his own AOL account. I was just being nice but I'm not gonna do it anymore.

I think it's worth paying more money though, cause I know I have family members that would do the same to me that your brother did to you. I like the unlimited access, cause I don't have to worry about going over my alloted time I would never use AOL personally, heard too many horror stories about them I use a local internet company, I pay $21.95 a month, but that's actually pretty cheap for unlimited access, cause I looked into a few other companies and they wanted much more for unlimited access

Yeah he should have his own account

Mandie,

When I left AOL, they had a BYOA price plan that was $24.95/month. It includes all the broadband stuff you get with the $14.95 price plan, as well as unlimited dialup and MSL (multiple simultaneous logons). It might be a good idea to check on that and see if your brother wants to chip in $10 a month.

I'm not sure if that price plan is still available, though. I haven't worked for them in three months.

It sounds like that's not something you're interested in, though. If you don't want to do the $24.95 plan, your brother has the option of spinning his screen name off to become the master screen name on a new account. This way, he gets to keep his online identity.

That's what I'm doing I'll bring it back so he can make his own account but he's not using mine anymore I don't trust him.

Totally understandable, Mandie.

And if you want to find out how much you were billed prior to February, AOL can see charges going back to the last six months.

He came over yesterday and was shocked when I told him about it. He said he never saw a pop up about being charged. I don't know whether I believe him or not. He said he'd give me some money and by "some" he better mean all of it. We didn't fight about it but if he doesn't pay me in full we will! He said "well that explains why I couldn't get online" I said "yeah I can't afford it you'll have to get your own account" and he said he planned on getting one anyways and because he's moving he couldn't get a cable modem set up yet so he will when he moves.
