![]() Hello,
This is the first time I have ever been on the boards. My name of course came from "American Graffiti" and "Happy Days" originally came from "Love American Style", a great show in its own right. Anyway, I loved the first seasons of Happy Days before Chachi came in and started stealing Fonzie's Thunder. Ron Howard of course was the meat of the show. As everyone saw as soon as he left the show quickly degenerated. Fonzie always needed a solid character to be juxtapositioned with to emphasize his difference. Roger was no Richie and could never be. I never did like that guy, and I was glad to see what happened to him in Revenge of the Nerds. Anyway, Happy Days is still great even with the pathetic ending years. Of course other great shows tailed off like this such as The Brady Bunch. Anytime new characters are brought in to a show they seem to take away from the old unless they are done with style such as MASH. |

![]() I'm not gonna type the WHOLE thing over again (if you want to read the whole thing, go to the topic "Spin-offs" in the General Sitcom Discussion board), but Happy Days did NOT originate from Love, American Style. That segment called "Love and the Happy Days" was originally supposed to be the pilot for Happy Days, and when Garry Marshall couldn't sell it to a network, he sold it to Love, American Style.

![]() You think so huh? Well I personally like the later episodes (seasons 6,7,8) better. The characters have more of a developed character than the first run. Know what I mean? Anyway that is ok if you like the first season best. I do agree though they should not have let Ron Howard go. Roger is no richie and of course could never be. Glad you came to the message boards! Hope to get to know you better as would lots of other people I am sure!
