ABC’S TGIF COMEDY LINEUP GETS INTO THE ACT FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL GREAT AMERICAN BAKE SALE
Initiative Encourages People to Hold Bake Sales To Raise Money to Help End Child Hunger in America
The ABC Television Network’s Friday night “TGIF” comedy lineup (“George Lopez,” “The Big House,” “Hope & Faith” and “Life with Bonnie”) and its stars will bring awareness to The Great American Bake Sale and the issue of child hunger in episodes scheduled to air Friday, April 2 or Friday, April 9. In
addition, as part of ABC’s community outreach campaign, “A Better Community,” a series of public service announcements will air on the Network and its affiliates through July, 2004.
Mentions of the Great American Bake Sale are woven into the April 2nd episode of “Life with Bonnie” and the April 9th episodes of “George Lopez” and “Hope & Faith.” The cast of “The Big House” participates in the initiative in public service announcements only.
LIFE WITH BONNIE -- “NIP, TUCK AND ROLL” – FRIDAY, APRIL 2 (9:30-10:00 p.m., ET)
-- At the request of “Morning Chicago” station owner Mr. Portinbody, Bonnie reluctantly goes for a consultation with a plastic surgeon (Dax Shepard from “Punk’d”), who leaves his mark on her. Also, Bonnie fends off Tony, who wants
the brownies she’s bought for the Great American Bake Sale. Starring in “Life with Bonnie” are Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Molloy, Mark Derwin as Dr. Mark Molloy, Charlie Stewart as Charlie Molloy, Frankie Ryan Manriquez as Frankie, Holly Wortell as Holly, Chris Barnes as Marv, Marianne Muellerleile as Gloria, Anthony

Meanwhile, Carmen tries to protect the baked goods she’s prepared for the Great American Bake Sale from Max, but neglects to protect them from George. “George Lopez” stars George Lopez as George, Constance
Marie as Angie, Valente Rodriguez as Ernie, Masiela Lusha as Carmen, Luis Armand Garcia as Max and Belita Moreno as Benny.
HOPE & FAITH -- “HOPE GETS A JOB” – FRIDAY, APRIL 9 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET) -- Hope gets a job as a columnist for the local paper, but her newfound freedom from Faith is dashed when her flashy sister tags along at the office and gets assigned a columnist job too. Faith proves to be such an infuriating colleague that Hope agrees to an office prank just to shut her up – with disastrous but hilarious results. Meanwhile, Sydney tries out her cooking skills when she leads the family’s Great American Bake Sale efforts. “Hope & Faith” stars Faith Ford as Hope, Kelly Ripa as Faith, Ted McGinley as Charley, Nicole Paggi as Sydney, Macey Cruthird as Hayley and Paulie Litt as Justin.
Thirteen million children in the United States are hungry or at risk of hunger. To change that, PARADE magazine and Share Our Strength, a leading hunger-relief organization, are presenting the second annual Great American Bake Sale™ to end child hunger in America.
PARADE launches the Bake Sale with a national cover story in the Sunday, April 4 issue. The program continues through July 25, 2004. During this time, all Americans are encouraged to register at www.greatamericanbakesale.org and participate by hosting a Great American Bake Sale in their communities. All funds raised will be donated to Share Our Strength, which will then make grants to innovative nonprofits fighting child hunger in the United States.
The cast of ABC’s “8 Simple Rules” participated in last year’s program, which raised $1 million for the cause.
