What about the openings to the episodes on the new "First Season" DVD set? Do the episodes open with the original instrumental "Rise and Shine" opening, or do they have the later "Meet The Flintstones" opening?

Not sure if this is what's considered the Rise & Shine openings, but here's a description of what's on the dvd. The episodes begin with a roughly 30 second scene from the episode, then the opening with Fred speeding home (picking up some clothes from the cleaners and a newspaper on the way), grabbing a bite from Wilma and heading for his chair to watch tv. The episodes closings have Fred turning off the set as all his Bedrock neighbors turn their lights off. Fred sets out a couple of milk bottles and a cat, gets locked out, starts screaming for Wilma, and the lights in all the other Bedrock houses are turned back on as the closing credits roll.

Yes, THAT's the original opening and closing credits...it would be neat if they had the original advertising graphics, too... |

I've seen the "Rise and Shine" openings too, but they weren't on the DVD. In Canada, "The Flintstones" can be seen on the specialty channel Teletoon at 8:00 pm, followed by "The Jetsons". Naturally, the plan is to show every episode from first to last, and, with Teletoon starting from Season 1, I expected a daily dose of "Meet The Flintstones". Instead, while watching the first episode ("The Flintstone Flyer"), I saw a completely different opening which I quickly realized was the original opening, the way it was meant to be shown. So obviously I've taped it and have kept it as a collector's item. Who needs 40 bucks for a DVD when I can watch it for free---and completely intact---every weeknight? Thank you Teletoon! |

Good for you. Just out of curiosity does teletoon have a watermark at all. That annoys me, and do they show subtitles?

I saw the original openning theme for the very first time on Teletoon tonight, and like Sal,taped it as well.So like Sal,I'm keeping it as a collector's item, having gotten it cheaper from TV ,I no longer have to worry about purchasing or renting the DVD set to see it.
