Default Why did Rerun leave WHN

I finally got around to seeing WHN from the marathon. I was just wondering why did Fred Berry leave the show.

I believe he did an interview with Entertainment Tonight, a little after Shirley died. Where he talked about his drug problems and all of his marriages and how he found God. I'm sure it will be played again, I've seen it about 3 times.

Question He was fired from the WHN Show...

Basically speaking, Fred Berry was fired from WHN altogether, due to longtime drug and personal problems that were off-camera. His problems started pouring over into the studio where his fellow cast members were, and it began affecting everyone.

He did not leave the show voluntarily.

He really added nothing to the show for the brief time he was on.

Ernest Thomas on TVOne's Unsung Hollywood episode on What's Happening!! (if I remember correctly) simply said that Fred Berry (after once again having a "taste" of TV success so to speak, started regrowing an ego) asked for a $1 million deal upfront. The producers at first thought that he was bluffing, but Fred told them rather bluntly that he "meant what he said". That was pretty much the ultimate sign that it wasn't going to work out anymore w/ Fred and the show going forward.

There also reportedly were problems on the original series with Fred Berry and demands, hence its premature cancellation.

I've read that the show acted as if Rerun never existed after the first season of WHN, though not true- the season 2 episode "The Yard Sale" included several mentions of him, with a couple of clips from the original series featuring him, too. He was even credited as a guest star (along with Mabel King).
