To me if any of it is going to be out there, the whole show should be. Are there any plans to release the rest of this show on DVD any time soon? I would love to re-live the rest of it, it is one of my most favorites from back in the day!!!

Not soon enough. I SO BADLY want some damn company to finish the show. But I'm told the music rights are what holds this from being finished. ![]()

I've googled and yahoo'd but couldn't find any news on Season Three of Perfect Strangers -- bummer!
This is a terrific show and deserves a full release! |

Really???? Perfect Strangers was always under Lorimar-Warner Brothers. I never heard that they sold this to Fox. When did that happen? I know that Fox bought the MTM Library of shows, but Warner Bros. shows? Hmm....

Here's the thing with music rights clearance..Yes, Balki hummed a tune quite a bit over the course of the series actually. When that happens, even if it's just humming a small portion of a song it STILL has to get cleared! If he hums enough of the song to where it's recognizable and you can ID it, it needs to get cleared. I know, it's asinine. I'm just stating what Warner and every other studio have to do in that case. It's either clear the music, edit, or cut it out of the episodes. They have to clear the music both when it's hummed like Balki does and if the actual song is used in the show or played on the radio in the show. I really feel back in the late 80's and early 90's, all these studios should have worked out SOME kind of agreement with as many major music artists/bands as possible so that music clearance wouldn't be the issue it is now. What's worse is, when these shows originally all aired, ALL the music was cleared for their original airings but it all needs to be cleared AGAIN now for DVD/digital releases! It should ideally have been the initial clearances would cover both the original broadcasts plus future releases for the show. At the time that would have covered VHS tapes and any future mediums (DVD's and Digital). That way would have saved all these studios tons of grief and time. |

Just an FYI and not being picky or rude at all, I hope it doesn't come across that way: Perfect Strangers is owned completely by Warner Brothers and not Fox. At least to my knowledge as of earlier this year. IF that's changed it would be a huge shocker to me but almost 100 percent positive the rights to the show are Warner's. So, if you want to ask about the show's DVD status Warner are the ones that should be directed to. Warner IS getting MUCH better with releasing their stuff. They've cleaned house a bit and some of the people at the top are newer and seem much much more willing to release the older stuff than the people before them, so hopefully they'll get the rest of their much requested stuff out in the next year or so. When and if PS gets more releases..and it really should since the Season 1 and 2 pack sold WAY above the sales targets set for it (I did my part ) I have a feeling it will either be via the Warner online store archives (MOD) or they'll just dump the rest on iTunes or Netflix. Same feeling I'm getting with both Head of The Class and Step by Step. We'll see. I'd like to see them continue with DVD releases though I'll take all 3 shows any way I can get them. I DO have most of Perfect Strangers' series run but I'm still missing some episodes towards the end. |
