Default How to Marry a Millionaire

This is a show I'd never seen before in my life. Then a few days ago I noticed the second season has been released on DVD. I looked into it and found out the show only had two seasons (from 1957-1959). So I bought them on Amazon, and am watching the show from the beginning. It's a pretty cute show. So far not laugh out loud funny, but it's definitely amusing and Barbara Eden is great in it. Actually I like the other two actresses (Lori Nelson, Merry Anders) as well.

So who else has seen this show and what does everyone think of it?

I had only the vaguest idea this show existed, would have guessed it lasted two seasons. I had no idea Barbara Eden was in it. Merry Anders turned up on Dragnet occasionally in the 60's, when they needed a policewoman to do something.

I picked up the 1st Season when it came out earlier this year. While the series is admittedly a bit mundane, and doesn't rank anywhere near the more high-profile 1950s sitcoms, it was still very pleasant and breezy. Sometimes at the end of day, when you just want to sit back and relax, a show like this can really fit the bill.

Plus, the gals are a real eyeful. Eden is already demonstrating her comedic chops here, still early in her career. Always liked Merry Anders, who was a very, very frequent guest on all those various Warner Bros shows back in the day. Not to mention, leading lady in slews of fun b-films (anyone remember "The Dalton Girls" from 1957? corny western, but great fun). Then, you have Lori Nelson, the former Universal starlet, another fav, whom most folks recall prettily gracing "Revenge of the Creature" and a number of popular technicolor Universal westerns.

And in this final (and short) second-season, we get lovely Lisa Gaye, another prolific beauty who appeared in guest-shots in virtually every tv-series back in the day. A sister of Debra Paget, she passed away not too long ago. Anyway, I plan to order this 2nd-season set, now that it has officially come out.

I caught some episodes in the early-to-mid 1980s, when they were still in rerun syndication, probably on one of my local stations, in the afternoons. And years later, I saw quite a few episodes on YouTube, which were pretty funny. I'd like to get both seasons on DVD, so thanks for the notification, Adamantium! Awesome!
