It was probably cheaper to use stock footage than update it they did have a budget to stick with. I lived in my old neighborhood and it never changed until after 12 years.

Comedyfreak is right. For example, Dobie Gillis always used stock footage of city traffic that was very obviously out-of-date. The producers of these shows saved money where they could due to budget constraints.

I hear that All in the Family and Maude had footage from the 60s. Now what about Good Times? Was that from the 60s too, or was that filmed later in the 70s when it took place? I also wondered about some of the places in the first two seasons of the Jeffersons. Were any of those from the 60s or were those all from the time that opening sequence was done with Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford?

And the footage of the Bunker home was not even from Astoria. It was from Glendale. An entirely different neighborhood in Queens. Astoria is Northeast while Glendale is more in the lower center of Queens - not too far from the (northern) Brooklyn border.

A considerable amount of the land area in Glendale & Maspeth is cemetary land - this is in the middle of Qns - far away from Astoria - lol - which is in NE Qns |
