TBS Orders More of Tyler Perry's "For Better or Worse"
TBS Orders More of Tyler Perry's "For Better or Worse"
2/15/2012 by Lesley Goldberg TBS wants more of Tyler Perry. The cable network has ordered 35 additional episodes of the multihyphenate's "For Better or Worse", which ranks as the No. 1 sitcom of 2011 among African-American adults. The series, which is produced by Tyler Perry Studios and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, premiered on Nov. 25 and averaged 2.9 million viewers and 1.6 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic in its 10-episode freshman year. "For Better or Worse" revolves around the ups and downs of marriage and dating and stars Tasha Williams, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. “Tyler Perry's shows have proven to be a popular draw for TBS on Friday nights," said Michael Wright, executive vp and head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. "We’re very happy to keep that trend going by ordering more episodes of Tyler Perry’s 'For Better Or Worse'." The series will return to its Friday time slot in the summer. It stands as Perry's third series with the network, joining "House of Payne", which returns in March, and "Meet the Browns", which ended its run last year. For its part, Debmar-Mercury is also testing a similar model with a 10-90 order for FX's Charlie Sheen comedy "Anger Management". http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...-perrys-291414 |
