Default Need help--Dorothy Takes A Trip

On the 3rd season DVD (after the opening scene where Hazel is trying to get the sports section from George), it looks to me like there is an edit, even on the DVD.

On the DVD, it opens in the kitchen, where Hazel is telling Rosie that Dorothy had to go on a trip. It looks to me like it was joined in progress, like there was more dialog about the trip, why Dorothy was going, etc. Does anyone know?

The episode runs 25:30 on the DVD, so I doubt that anything is edited.

One season 3 episode that's definitely edited on the DVD is "Campaign Manager". It runs under 23 minutes. Either the uncut episode is lost or in bad shape and they had to go with the edited/syndicated version.

Also, the 4th season episode "It's A Dog's Life" has a scene edited because of music, so the episode runs about a minute shorter than normal.

Wasn't Whitney Blake absence for a few episodes which left George, Hazel, and Harold on their own. I believe it was explained in show, that Dorothy's cousin had broken her leg. I wonder what was going on with Whitney having to miss a few episodes? Was she sick?
