I totally agree. If they were Japanese prisoners, why are they sort of just hanging out? They would also be a long way off course. These stories are interesting but I'm pretty solid in the belief that they crashed and died at sea.

WARNING: History Channel Docs such as this often bend facts and find "experts" to go along with the narrative of the show. Case in point the Alcatraz show that tried to convince us the Anglins escaped safely.

I'd really take with a grain of salt these type docs especially on the History Channel.

I would say they've lost all their appeal and credibility, but I cannot ignore the wonder that is competitive bladesmithing. Forged in Fire FTW

Next up on the History Channel's Lineup of Complete BS...

Jack The Ripper in America. They will now present to us all the "facts" with facial recognition experts and all.

Laughable episode. Everything is easily summarized, to borrow and torture from Macbeth:

"Plausible and Plausible and Plausible...Signifying Nothing"

***

I didn't realize the picture was proven unrelated. I would have wagered anything along those lines. But this is the type of thing that galls me to no end. People in every area of deception and profit have come to sense that all you have to do is string together 40 chunks of garbage point by supposed point and a sizeable percentage of the populous will fall for it. I'm convinced we're still in the very early stages.

History Channel has sadly become a major offender, and often a parody of the channel name, but their versions are gold compared to what is peddled in other areas.

I was surprised to see newspapers from the era reported on the marines finding Earhart's things. I was always kind of skeptical of the testimony given on UM as more "tall tales" made up after the fact.

First I heard of more than one person hearing Amelia's distress signals.

I think its pretty evident that Earhart died stranded on Gardner Island.

The fact that they find HUMAN bones on a deserted island that NOBODY had been known to really go to, and an island that was the ONLY nearby spot to where she likely went down should lead any reasonable person to believe it was likely her or Noonan's bones. The updated forensic analysis suggests those bones did belong to a woman, and that the height and skull size match those of Amelia. So just those things considered, what are the chances that those bones are someone elses? Very slim.

As the article suggests, there is a possibility the plane was still close to the island or maybe even hit the shores and was taking on water until the point at which the radio finally couldn't function anymore.

IMHO the latest findings really kinda seal the case for her demise being at Gardner Island and not being some prisoner of the Japanese.
