Default PBS CEO responds to President Trump's plan to eliminate public media funding

http://deadline.com/2018/02/pbs-dona...ng-1202286441/

PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger responded to President Trump's release of his 2019 budget plan, which calls for the elimination of federal funding for public media, pointing to a survey that showed that Americans named PBS and member stations #1 in public trust among nationally known institutions. “For 15 years running," she said in a statement, "research has shown that PBS and our member stations have earned the trust of the American public and are succeeding in providing children with programming and services to help them succeed in school and life. In a time when trust in the media has come into question, we are proud that PBS and our member stations remain unmatched in trust and value to our nation.”

I trust PBS to be totally liberal in their programming. I also trust PBS to talk poor all the time, but never ask Sesame Street to pay its fair share. If PBS only wants to cater to liberal/progressives, then liberal/progressives can fund it. I am glad PBS will not get my tax money. PBS thinks I am an uneducated Trumpbilly, not worthy of any shows I would like to see. Goodbye PBS.

Go figure. Sesame Street is a national cultural institution and due to it (and my mom reading to me) my IQ is high. I love PBS because they have many great documentaries like Frontline and American Experience. Having said that, I've noticed that they seem to be doing more advertising.

You do realize Sesame Street is a show, right? your post makes little sense to me at all. PBS has many shows without any kind of slant.

It's too bad our government keeps hiking up the military budget while stating there's nothing left for anyone else. Let's shift some of the money on military spending to something that actually makes America a better place.

If it went to help our military personnel I'd support it. However, it's to buy overpriced machinery we don't need.

Do you notice that during pledge time, their liberal propaganda disappears? When they're begging for money they have on rock and roll concerts, the three tenors, and the history of Israel.

Then as soon as pledge time ends, it's the gay film festival and back to their hard left propaganda.

You do realize that Sesame Street makes gobs of money? But none of it goes to PBS programming? Non profit my eye! Somebody is getting rich!

Without the military, America would be some other countries place.

Of course I'm aware if that and yes the money should go towards. However, I was responding to your comment about Sesame Street being something else. It raises IQ, which we need.

PBS is worse than a caricature. It is a scam! my tax dollars go to a network that hates me and wants me to be extinct. They hate my God, my guns, my culture. Then they pretend they are representing all of America, when they just represent a small, stuck up portion of our society, so in love with themselves that they like the smell of their own farts.

We don't need to be in all the places in the world we're in. How about we build up the military when we need it should we ever be under attack, rather than throwing more money like we did. Cut military spending by $60 billion and we can use that $60 billion to give everyone free college. That's one thing we can do. We spend $700 billion a year on the military now. Big Bad Russia, a country everyone is afraid of lately, spends only $65 billion on their military. We don't need to be the world's policeman.

Oh No

PBS shouldn't be cut...but most of the children's programming relies on PBS and toy sales...if PBS gets cut after 50 years...I'm sure that there's gonna be commercials in between programs!
