To Sue Ann

I sing now of the Weaver girl, Sue Ann
Of she from Kansas City yonder far
The girl with speed to outrun any man
And mind so bright, her grades she wouldn't mar

She loves to look her best for Bates's boys
She thought that Scott Dunbar held Peekskill's moon
Midwestern values root her in her joys
Though once she black'd a friend's eye like a 'coon

To pressure from her peers she once gave in
Experimenting with forbidden grass
She learned her lesson, vowing ne'er again
And from then on remain'd a lucid lass

Your yellow hair surrounds you with a glow
While being "lost" was your true fate, o, woe!

Thanks, it sure is challenging fun, lol...and I made a change on Cindy's sonnet, I took the part about "She loves outdoors as fifer loves the fife" and changed it to include a reference to her famous jump rope scene---I just felt I had to include the jumping rope, lol.

One finds her jumping rope should there be strife
Yet once a conflict fades she makes amends
Nice touch! And so true!

To Miss Downes

O Muse, I sing the praises of Miss Downes
Who clerked in Harrison's department store
The scum who thieved from her brought forth her frowns
And made her grill them, asking, "Dear, what for??"

She is a striking figure seen afar
With silken scarves and glasses fix'd to chain
And Eastland hired her to mold a star
Of girls who music'ly could lilt a strain

When drama teaching had, for her, plateaued
Administration then did she approach
The girls' records upon her they bestowed
A touchy subject with her, should you broach

Miss Downes, you peaked in your dramatic arts
E'er may you dwell in many "Facts" fans' hearts!

To Seņor Tiger

O Muse, I sing the praises of decor
In focus, here, the tiger of the girls
He stayed at least for seasons one through four
And pleasant is his smile; not one of churls

Behaving silently in num'rous scenes
In windows or by bureau or by bed
Sometimes bare-headed (body nude, no jeans)
And other times sombrero tops his head

Though show was changed when season one did end
Retained were you, small continuity
You dwelt above the kitchen, sill-based, and
You stayed for years; fate, or fortuity?

Your stripe-ed self and broad-brimmed hat were fun
O Eastland Tiger, praise thee to the sun!

Wow! That is most excellent!
A fair tribute to the Tiger Capulet!

To Steven Bradley

O muse, of Steven Bradley now I sing
Headmaster of our girls on Eastland's grounds
Protectively he watch'd o'er ev'rything
And stayed informed by making frequent rounds

He yearned for all his girls to be their best
Promoting education, sports as well
Commanded he their heed at his behest
But if they took a drug, lo! he'd expel

Against the elements he firmly stood
Defending his with strong virility
And lauded as a bold hero he would
Flirt first with pride, yet choose humility

O father o'er ev'ry hallow'd hall
Headmaster Bradley, most revered of all!

To Eastland Parents

I sing to honor parents of our girls
Respected great, these Eastland moms and dads
They trusted Edna Garrett's wisdom pearls
And loved their daughters, times both good and bad

O Charlie he courageously reformed
And Rose worked hard providing all she could
While David swam in business deals and forms
It's Monica who dropped in when she would

Like flesh and bone sweet Evie loved her child
And Dr. Green he wanted best for her
Diane tried to relate when times were wild
While "Buffalo" was strict and quite stubborn

A Lost Parent was Dr. Parker, "Jeff"
The other girls', poor dears, parent-bereft!

Hahah! That's wonderful '80s! I'm so glad you included Mr. Parker (father of Molly, not the headmaster), too!
