Default What in the Hell Happened to the FONZ after season 3?

The first 3 seasons, the Fonz had the cool look, with the collar flipped up, white T-shirt, and BLACK Leather Jacket. He also had on Blue Jeans. But in the 4th season and after, The Fonz

Collar was no longer flipped up
He wore White Jeans
Black T-Shirt-?????
Brown Leather Jacke-????

It was like his Outfit all of a sudden became TRAGIC-LOL He was no longer color coordinated. Plus he was bigger. I'm sorry but the REAL FONZ only existed from 74-77, 1978 and after, Fonz was a MESS

I happened to love his brown jacket. And I like black shirts. True, the light blue jeans, white shirt, and black jacket were stereotypically cool, but The Fonz was cool, no matter what he wore. It was on the inside that counted. People on the show didnt always dress all that well. As for being "bigger" I didnt find it noticeable. He still looked great, and had a good body, and was healthy. Too many people nowadays feel they have to stay skinny to look good, and can lead to anorexia. I don't mean to trash your post, you can have your opinion, I just wanted to say my piece.

i think the jacket was awesome. also it was unique, just the like fonz was. if he had any fault, it was that he could be a little self centered or concieted at times. but his character was great, and thats all that matters. he was cool, he acted cool, he's just plain cool/

I dont see how it "Destroyed" anything.

The Fonz was always cool, just because he Gained a little weight and wore a Brown Jacket doesnt mean he wasnt "The Real Fonz", so he gained a little weight, i think of it more as a progression of his character, he cant be a fit teenager all his life, he got older and the Fonz got older, the post 1977 Fonzie was just older, not a "Mess" as you put it. Most of the time i dont even notice it.

I hardly disagree about it being "Tragic", his outfit just changed a bit. No biggie.

The producers can have still did without the black t-shirt. Plus when Fonz wore a leather jacket on the beach in CA, that was the END for me.

I don't think anything happened to the Fonz after season 3! Like the post earlier one can't just go by looks when determining cool. Fonz proved that he could be cool no matter what the color of his tee shirt was! I think Fonz became a little too straight after Ritchie entered the service & there was no one left to contrast the Fonz with! I mean, I like Roger, & all that, but he was no Ritchie & therefore could not blend in with the Fonz. I don't think Roger ever tried to be like Ritchie.

the show changed, the fonz changed - big deal.

the black T-shirt and brown leather jacket were intended to hide Henry Winkler's physical changes from the Fonz's image - it wasn't the ideal solution, but in the grand scheme of things, who cares?

i DO agree that the "leather jacket on the beach" thingee was kinda lame

yeah I didn't like that brown jacket either! the colar & sleeves looked odd.

I think he said once that he had to wear that.. because he would have looked to tough for censors??? or maybe that was when he had the clothe jacket in the first year
