Default Nintendo (Ones From The '80s)

Did anyone ever own one? For me, I always remember having to blow inside the machine and the game to keep them clean. They would always scramble up too while in the middle of a game.

In either 1988 or 1989 when I was in 5th grade, my brother-in-law at the time gave me his baseball cards and told me that if I sold them for him that I could keep half the money. I did and I bought a Nintendo. It was my first video game system. I had forgot all about having to blow into the games until you started this thread. I don't recall ever having to blow into the machine. I'm not really into video games anymore. I still have a Playstation 1 that I bought in 1998. I never upgraded after that.

I never had a Nintendo back then, but friends of mine did, and I remember them having to blow into the machine and cartridges. The sitcom Holliston even made a reference to this in one of their episodes, so it's definitely something the old Nintendo is known for.

You mean the NES. Nintendo Entertainment System. I had one once. It was back in 1992. I'm a Johnny come lately so that's why it took me so long to get it. I loved it myself. I had Monopoly, Wheel of fortune, Jeopardy, and many other games. By the time i bought mine, you could get them really cheap and the games too because everyone was buying the Sega Genesis. I had allot of fun with mine, but Jason is right. It did always hang up on me and I had the hardest time keeping it clean, because dust gathers everywhere in a home. I finally learned the best solution for keeping it clean. Give it a good cleaning When Its not being used, put it in a plastic trash bag, take all the air out of the bag and tie it up. When I started doing that, it stayed clean for a long time.

I still have our NES system! I love it! My favorite games are the Megaman series, Castlevania, Milon's Secret Castle,Legend Of Zelda, Tengen Tetris and Adventure Island 1 &2. I also have Atari 7800 and about 50 games. I also like Sega Genesis but I don't have that anymore.

Yes, I definitely had a Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 1980s- I wish I still had it but had to sell it during a move. I've thought about getting one again at some point, but I don't know if I want to shell out a ton of money collecting all my favorite video games again.
But I definitely love the Super Mario Bros. games and Mega Man- tons of others too, of course- but those are some of my top favorites. Along with Disney games like DuckTales and Chip 'N' Dale: Rescue Rangers and Talespin and Darkwing Duck- and definitely DC and Marvel superhero games.

I never had one, but my cousin did.

I may get myself a 3rd Party NES/SNES. I had an SNES, but it would freeze on me and erase the memory on the games I had...it was VERY annoying!hnohnohnohnohno:

I grew up w/ Nintendo so of course I remember blowing into the games as well as the system.

My favs. at the time were Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, Maniac Mansion, Zelda, Willow, Tetris and Casino Kid.

I got rid of it long ago. I also remember having to blow into the SEGA Genesis games sometimes, but not as often as the original Nintendo.

I think we even had to blow into the Atari 2600 cartridges from time to time.

My parents received one as a wedding gift. I have vague memories of it, but the machine was gone around 1989 when I was 4.

I bought my father the Atari Anthology PS2 game which featured 80 games total from the Atari Arcade and 2600.

That's cool.

Before the Atari 2600, we had the Coleco Telstar. Basically all of the games were variations of Pong. The cartridges were triangular.

The Nintendo was the first thing I bought by saving my allowance every week. It cost about $100, which seems liked a million dollars to a middle schooler at the time.

I got my Nintendo Entertainment System when I was five years old and it was bought at Macy's on clearance and when I got it Mom and I set it up in her bedroom and we used to have a grand time playing Super Mario Bros and then we had a little library of Nintendo games. But once the Sega Genesis was brought the Nintendo kind of lost it's novelty and it was moved to the living room. But when my cousin would visit he would sometimes bring his own games to play with me and it was fun. Believe it or not the Nintendo is now in my family room. I have a Nintendo Gameboy Advance and a Gameboy Advance SP and another Gameboy Advance which belongs to my mom but I never got the original Nintendo Gameboy. I can honestly say that anything Nintendo is loads of fun to play with especially on a rainy day
