Default Detail’s for Scorpion Releasing’s The Monster Club Blu-ray

Not so long ago it was announced that the folks over at Scorpion Releasing were gearing up to release The Monster Club onto Blu-ray. Unfortunately at that time details were slim, but thankfully that all changes today as we have scored the release date and special features included on the disc.

The Monster Club is set to hit Blu-ray in the U.S. this September 24th. Unfortunately this one has been region locked due to the licensing agreement.

Horror anthology loosely based on the works of horror novelist R. Chetwynd-Hayes. A horror author is invited by a suave vampire (Vincent Price) to accompany him to the title establishment, where he observes the secret social customs of various species of monsters — which apparently include drinking, dancing, and watching undead strippers remove more than just their clothing. He is also made privy to the mating patterns of these creatures, and three bizarre tales are told over the evening. Also starring Donald Pleasence, Richard Johnson, Simon Ward, Britt Ekland, John Carradine, Anthony Steel and Stuart Whitman. This will be available both BD and SD.

Special Features:

Brand New 16×9 (1.78) anamorphic mastered in HD
62-minute interview of Vincent Price conducted in 1987 by film historian David Del Valle
40-minute audio interview between Del Valle and Price
On camera interview with David Del Valle
Original Trailer
Isolated ME track

Default Anchor Bay Dates 'Embrace of the Vampire' Remake, Original For Blu-ray!

Anchor Bay Films is proud to announce the home entertainment debut of the erotic horror film, Embrace of the Vampire, starring Sharon Hinnendael (Rites of Passage, “Look”), Tiio Horn (Defiance, Hemlock Grove), C.C. Sheffield (“True Blood”), Chelsey Marie Reist (12 Rounds: Reloaded) and Victor Webster (Continuum) available on Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and DVD October 15th. We also have the first ever stills from the film, which can be viewed below.

The film is a reimagining of the 1995 cult classic version starring Alyssa Milano, which will also be made available on Blu-ray for the very first time on the same day!

“Embrace of the Vampire stars Sharon Hinnendael as Charlotte, a timid and sheltered teen who has just left an all-girls Catholic school for a new life at a co-ed university. But an ancient evil has followed her here, tormenting her with disturbing nightmares and tempting her with forbidden desires. It is a hunger that can only be satiated by sensual pleasures of the flesh…and a thirst for blood. It’s a battle for her soul… and one she’s losing. But Charlotte is a fighter. The chaos and torment threatens to unleash her own inner beast, and anyone even close to her may find themselves embracing their own horrific fate.“

Also separately available on Blu-ray for the first time and DVD on the Anchor Bay Entertainment label is the ground-breaking 1995 infamous erotic version starring former “Who’s The Boss?” child star and “Charmed” vixen Alyssa Milano. Milano stars as Charlotte, a shy, sexually inexperienced college freshman stalked by a handsome British vampire (Martin Kemp of The Krays) who believes her to be the reincarnation of his long-dead lover. But with only three days to seduce the teen virgin, he’ll tempt Charlotte with forbidden passions that include sensual dreams, a beautiful lesbian (Charlotte Lewis of The Golden Child), torrid threesomes, scorching orgies and beyond. Jordan Ladd (Club Dread), Rachel True (The Craft) and Jennifer Tilly (Bound) co-star in the sizzling supernatural classic Mr. Skin calls “the sexiest horror movie of all time!”

Default 'House on Straw Hill' Will Contain Bonus Doc 'Ban the Sadist Videos'

The 80′s video boom has become a time of sweet nostalgia for movie fans of a certain age but in the UK it was also a time of moral panic perpetuated by ill-informed politicians and a sensationalist media. ‘The Video Nasties’ witchhunts which led to Britain becoming the most highly censored nation in the western world targeted distributors, store owners and a list of horror movies which were prosecuted as obscene and subsequently banned.

Ban the Sadist Videos, David Gregory’s (Plague Town, Theatre Bizarre) two-part documentary from 2006, tells the full shocking story. It will receive its first official US release as a Limited Edition Bonus DVD in the first 3,000 units of Severin Films’ upcoming release of House on Straw Hill. House on Straw Hill, known in the UK as Expose, was one of the final 39 condemned Video Nasties and remains banned in its uncut form in the UK to this day.

Severin Films partners Gregory and Carl Daft developed their passion for exploitation cinema while growing up in the ‘Nasty’ era in Britain. “There are a couple of really good VHS era documentaries doing the rounds in the US right now but growing up in England we had a very different experience of serious censorial oppression. We thought it might be time to bring out our doc on the period in the US,” says Gregory.

House on Straw Hill, starring Udo Kier (Suspiria, Andy Warhol’s Dracula) and Linda Hayden (Blood on Satan’s Claw), has the honor of being the only British film that made the infamous ‘Video Nasties’ list and the Severin Blu/DVD combo will mark its first official fully uncut release on disc.

“Straw Hill has proved one of the most difficult discs we’ve ever produced due to severely damaged film elements. The master is still not perfect but it’s the only way to see the film uncut in its original aspect ratio. We wanted to give Severin fans something extra to compensate for the imperfect presentation of the feature and the fact that it’s taken so long to get the disc to market. By including what we consider one of our best documentaries to date, which until now has only been released in the UK, seemed like the way to go. We had considered canceling the title on many occasions because it was such a dire situation but we just couldn’t give up on it and we have it to where it’s now acceptable to us, and hopefully to our customers. We also have another very exciting nasties release on the horizon so we want to raise some awareness in the US of that grim time for horror fans in the UK.”

Other extras in the package include “AN ANGEL FOR SATAN – AN INTERVIEW WITH LINDA HAYDEN” and an audio commentary with Director James Kenelm Clarke and Producer Brian Smedley-Aston. And as yet one more additional bonus, those who buy the disc directly from the Severin store will get a strictly limited edition (250) VHS replica of the UK Video Nasty release as Expose!

Default 1987 "Bates Motel" Made-For-TV Movie Now On DVD!

As part of Universal’s Vault Series, you can now order the classic 1987 TV movie “Bates Motel” on DVD over at Amazon.

“One of the most infamous murder locations in history re-opens under new management in the chilling “Bates Motel.”

To Alex West (Bud Cort), Norman Bates was the father he never had. So after spending 27 years together in the state sanitarium, Alex is finally released, having inherited the Bates estate upon Norman’s passing. Aided by a wisecracking young drifter (Lori Petty), Alex reopens the infamous motel, their guests including a suicidal divorcée, a ’50s gang of eerie teens and the late Mrs. Bates herself.”

A feature-length TV movie originally broadcast on NBC, “Bates Motel” is the rarest film in the Psycho legacy…the stuff that screams are made of!

This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com’s standard return policy will apply.

Default Mondo is Releasing the Maniac Remake on VHS

Maniac, the remake starring Elijah Wood and directed by Franck Khalfoun, is getting a collectible VHS on October 22nd through Mondo Video.

A total of 500 copies of this limited edition will be available in a clamshell case with a randomly inserted purple cassette.

In this 21st century Jack the Ripper story set in present-day Los Angeles, Frank leads a deceptively peaceful life. To the outside world, he's a withdrawn and somewhat eccentric owner of a mannequin store. But his quiet façade masks an inner rage that forces him to brutally kill and scalp the women who get too close to him. When a young artist named Anna (Nora Arnezeder, Safe House) appears one day at Frank's shop and asks for his help with her new exhibition, Frank develops an obsession with her that threatens to completely destroy his already fragile psyche. Soon the streets become unsafe for any woman after dark as this newly awakened maniac begins to stalk and kill.

It would have been weird if the original "Bates Motel" series had happened w/ it not relating to the '80s sequels.

Default Remastered Nosferatu Coming to Blu-ray & DVD

Kino Classics is proud to announce that it will release F.W. Murnau's silent horror classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror in a 2-disc remastered edition on Blu-ray and DVD, newly mastered in HD from the archival 35mm restoration by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung.

Long considered one of the masterworks of German cinema, F.W. Murnau's seminal vampire film remains one of the enduring classics of the horror genre and of silent film. Kino Classics is bringing Nosferatu to Blu-ray and DVD in a deluxe edition packed with special features including a "making of" documentary, The Language of Shadows, that gives new insight into the creation of this classic film.

This edition will become available on November 19th.

Disc One features the film with English intertitles, while disc two features the German intertitles with optional English subtitles. The film is accompanied by Hans Erdmann's original 1922 score, in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 or 2.0 Stereo. Also included is The Language of Shadows (2007), a 52-minute documentary on the making of Nosferatu; an image gallery; and lengthy excerpts from other films by Murnau including Journey Into the Night (1920), The Haunted Castle (1921), Phantom (1922), The Finances of the Grand Duke (1924), The Last Laugh (1924), Tartuffe (1925), Faust (1926), and Tabu (1931).
