Default BBC axes Last Of The Summer Wine

The BBC are axing "Last of The Summer Wine" after 37 years .

The BBC said it was a tough decision but the show has carried on after the deaths of Bill Owen and Kathy Staff with later additions to the cast of Brian Murphy and Russ Abbot.

The Last of the Summer Wine ran for 37 years. If a primetime network television series in the United States ran that long, it would have had around 880 episodes. By UK standards, it would have 295 episodes (A US primetime network TV series with that many episodes would run for 12 seasons). I doubt that The Simpsons should have this long of a run.

It's such a shame since it is a really good show. Still watching them Sunday nights on the PBS station.
