Good for her; sounds like she's got a good survival instinct.

I'm sure glad your daughter was OK. It's a crazy world anymore (probably always was, we just didn't know so much about it).

I know that this thread is complaint thread, but at least I have good news for me, according to schedule zap2it Sprout network will later air Ice Age, and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for several days. At least Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite is finally done with Ice Age movies.

Thanks, retro Yes, sadly, very few places are completely safe nowadays.

Some of the improvements on modern TVs are not really improvements. My remote needs new batteries and I can't get them for a few days. There are no buttons anymore on the actual TV, you can't turn it on from there.

Maybe there are some on the side of the TV? If it's a big flatscreen they usually put small essential buttons on the bottom right or even the back side of it.

Look up your make and model of TV online. I've never heard of any new TV that doesn't at least come with buttons for basic functions. It may even be a circular button on the back that controls power, volume, channel, etc.

I remember the old days where you had to actually get up and walk over to the TV so you could turn the vice grips and change the channel

Netflix took away my ability to make screen caps from their videos...

Amazon.com took away my ability to make screen caps from their videos...

Now iTunes has taken away my ability to make screen caps from their videos.

The only thing left is DVD's, and not everything I want to capture is available on DVD!

My daughter called me last night from where she's working as a barista. An old man wanted her to stir his tea with her finger because he wanted to see how sweet she tasted.
She said she was creeped out, and understandably so, he didn't bother her the rest of the night, but her and her co worker after closing went out to their cars together.
Sadly this comes with the territory with working with the public, and especially being a young woman.

Yeah, my girlfriend has had similar experiences. It's sad that this is "normal" but the service worker has two choices; complain about it and possibly get in trouble because you have to "humor" the customer, or keep quiet and endure rather icky behavior. Obviously if it crosses a line there's no choice but to report; but many guys are crafty enough to go right up to the line then step back, so they can later say there was "a misunderstanding".

Sad but true.
