This would make a great fanfiction! Hints to fan fiction writers... <g>

This is quite interesting, seeing as how both shows aired back-to-back and taped at NBC's Burbank Studios. Whereas Sanford and Son was set in a junkyard and were more the amusing type, Chico and the Man was set in a car garage and were more the emotional type. But the two shows were done by different producers. Norman Lear did SaS, James Komack did CatM.

True, some S1 eps did act like Norman Lear's typical sitcoms when Chico said the phrase "Eeeh's not my problem!", showing the attitude of a lazy Mexican.

And let's not forget that unlike SaS, CatM had a death in one of its main cast members during the run.

Other than that, it was NOT a SaS clone!

It's easy to think these two shows are clones if you didn;t come along during the 70's

Cool

Do you remember the episode of Chico and the Man where Chico is standing next to a stack of tires, and inspecting one especially badly -- slashed tire . He hollered "HEY, ED, WE'VE GOTTA STOP BUYING OUR USED TIRES FROM SANFORD AND SON !" .

I remember that and got a big kick outta it. I think both shows were filmed on the same set. I read that somewhere and that they would interchange between set back drops going back and forth between both shows.
