Amanda Bynes Arrested for DUI

After colliding with a police car early Friday morning, Amanda Bynes was arrested for driving under influence, police confirm to PEOPLE.

According to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department, at 3 a.m. on Friday, "a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy in a marked black and white radio car, was stopped at the intersection of ... Robertson Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard preparing to turn right onto Santa Monica Boulevard when a black BMW driven by actress Amanda Bynes attempted to pass the right of the radio car, colliding with the right rear quarter panel of the radio car."

"There was minor paint transfer damage to both vehicles," the police statement continues. "Amanda Bynes was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and booked at West Hollywood Sheriff's Station."

According to GossipCop (who first broke the story) Bynes, who celebrated her 26th birthday on April 3, was still in custody on Friday morning with bail reportedly set at $5,000.

A month before, GossipCop reports, Bynes was pulled over by police in L.A. for talking on her cell phone while driving, and then sped away.

A rep for Bynes did not respond to requests for comment.

I heard about that on the news. She seemed to be one of the few recent former child stars who seemed to have her head on straight.

Amanda Bynes slammed into a car on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley on April 10 ... then fled the scene -- according to the victim who told cops the troubled actress was the culprit.

The culprit was driving a 5 series BMW at the time of the accident. The victim gave chase, got off the freeway, but the culprit blew a red light, never to be seen again. The victim was able to write down the license plate number. She only got a profile view of the woman driving the BMW.

CHP showed up, ran the plate and determined it was a rental vehicle. Officers told the victim the culprit was driving an Enterprise rental car. The victim then contacted Enterprise, who told her the person who had rented the car was Amanda Bynes.

The victim then showed up at a CHP substation and ID'd Amanda from a photo lineup. And get this ... the photo of Amanda was taken just 4 days earlier -- it was her mug shot from a DUI arrest. Amanda was driving in West Hollywood on April 6 when she clipped a cop car and was immediately popped for DUI.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the case was referred to a filing officer at the L.A. City Attorney's Office who immediately rejected it because there was no independent witness fingering Amanda as the phantom driver.

Amanda was accused earlier this month of hitting a car in Hollywood and then fleeing the scene. She told cops she did not feel the impact and was not ticketed.

This news was filed today about an incident that supposedly happened on April 10th.

Amanda Bynes is sticking to her story, even if a judge doesn’t buy it.

The actress was charged on Tuesday with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in relation to her April 6 arrest, in which she was accused of sideswiping a police car while attempting to make a right hand turn. The arrest occurred at 3 a.m. in West Hollywood and Bynes allegedly refused to take a Breathalyzer or drug test at the scene of the accident.





Immediately following her hearing, Bynes took to Twitter to enlist the help of who else, but the president of the United States.

“I don’t drink,” the 26-year-old wrote in a tweet addressed to @BarackObama. “Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”

Bynes is scheduled to appear in front of Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox, who presided over most of Lindsay Lohan’s highly publicized DUI case.
