I know...my dog is scared to death of them. She is asleep right now, but only because she is curled up with my 11 year old. For some reason I am the only one around here who cannot sleep through them. Everyone else is out for the night.

I feel bad because my neighbors' son is autistic and he cries and screams the whole week when people are shooting off fireworks. I don't do them for that reason, but a lot of people in the neighborhood don't care. It makes me sad that they don't mind putting that poor boy through all that anxiety and uncertainty just so they can have a little fun.

When did I become the grumpy old lady in the neighborhood ?

I sure wouldn't call you the grumpy lady of the neighborhood. Hell, I can't even stand it when people set them off on 4th of July, let alone almost a week before!

Sounds like a blast.

It is a blast! It started Monday and I had 4 assignments to complete and turn in by tomorrow (luckily I finished those.) I also have a 5 page paper due by Sunday at midnight and need to write a 3 paragraph response to two posts on the class message board by Friday. Yippee! I am going to be so smart by the time I get finished with this, and I am certainly going to know how to take charge and change people's thinking.

Yuck! I hate presentations. I'm sure you'll be fine though. Just try to relax and you'll get through it.

Aw, that's too bad for the poor little guy people can be so rude! I would think the neighbors would have the decency to know when to stop unless they just don't care. They finally quit here. My dog shakes easily, and we could almost hear the furniture vibrating it's so unfair!

I can't sleep with fireworks or loud noise either. Thank heavens I don't live on a busy street. Good luck getting to sleep

Eh, many people don't understand autism and they don't care to learn. They probably just think that little boy is being a baby or something.

This will be the first time ever that I am out of the country for the 4th, and to be honest, I am really glad, because I hate hearing fireworks go off at all hours of the night! Sadly, though, the 4th is on Saturday and I'm coming home on Sunday, so I'm sure i'll be hearing them for a few days afterwards!

Yeah, and a lot of them aren't just that way about autism

Its a shame that those people can't be a little bit more understanding and sensitive to that poor boy's feelings.

It sounds like you are really keeping up with the assignments. I'm sure that you will end up doing really well in the class.
