I find it amazing that Robin Williams was never typecast as Mork from Ork. He went from tv to big time tv roles whereas everyone else from that sitcom suffered...

With the exception of Johnathan Winters, who joined in the final season, he had 10 times the talent of everyone else. So it was natural that he would do much better than them overall.

Pam Dawber was likeable and pretty, but mediocre as an actress. She did well in her personal life, though, marrying Mark Harmon.

I wish she'd guest star on NCIS.

I think Dawber could have gone on to do much more. She was very appealing as an actress and personally I saw a lot of comedic potential there, too.
It's hard for a comedic actress to have a long career. I think you can count on two hands the number of those that have done it. There's also the possibility that she just preferred to do other things. Either way, I think Williams DID get typecast as a "wild and crazy" guy (basically variations of Mork) until he did One Hour Photo and Insomnia.

Pam Dawber looked like she may have had another hit on her hands with My Sister Sam, which did reasonably well its first season but was moved all over CBS' schedule the next (and last) year. Of course, most people remember that show only because of the tragic death of Ms. Dawber's co-star, Rebecca Schaffer, in 1989.
She did a good job in some TV movies, but I also think her visibility was reduced because of her decision to become a full-time wife/mother. I too wish she would guest on her husband's show - but maybe she's been asked and doesn't want to. In any case, it seems like she's happy where she is right now. God bless her! ![]()
