the Valerie Bertinell short-lived NBC sitcom "CAFE AMERICAN"?
It was about a girl from the U.S. who was living in Paris and worked at a resturant called THE CAFE AMERICAN.

I watched it a few times. Not very good or very memorable IMO. And I couldn't stand Sofia Milos who played her local friend.

The most notable thing about the show was one episode's pre-credit sequence was when Valerie's character was getting annoyed by a street musician who was playing guitar for the patrons.
She kept trying to get his attention by yelling, but he didn't respond, as he had his back turned. She walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. The guitarist turned around. It was Eddie Van Halen. She then grabbed him by the ear and threw him out of the cafe. He was going "Ow, ow!!" When the audience realized it was Eddie, they went nuts and cheered. Valerie said in an interview at the time that it was the most applause anyone had gotten on their show.
