I couldn't find a photo of the actual spilt. This is the best I could do.

Thanks, now I know how to get there from the Ohio Turnpike . . . if I ever drive out west, I can visit you!

This is the kind of stuff my daughter and I text back and forth to each other. Of course, we're both easily amused.

I was a general road geek myself, but I used to do the same things with maps that my parents had. I was also a car, truck and bus freak. On family road trips I used to see stubs of unfinished highways and always used to anticipate their completion. As the 60's became the 70's I saw a lot of these roads were never going to be built, and the traffic just kept getting worse, because the stalling and cancellation of these roads didn't give motorists anyplace else to go, other than local streets.

I also used to make faces at a lot of the front ends of the cars, trucks, buses, and other vehicles that passed by. People probably thought I was just making faces at them, when in reality I was trying to imitate the front ends of their cars or trucks. There's a good chance if you were driving an pre-1967 Volkswagen Bus (for example), you would've seen some little boy sticking his tongue out as far down towards his chin as he can.

Now, for a picture; Old and new-style New York State 1/10th Mile Markers on New York State Route 51 in Otsego County, New York. I used to try to read them aloud as a kid in this teeny-tiny voice I invented.

The Old Presque Isle, Michigan Lighthouse built in 1840 is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes. It was replaced by a taller lighthouse in 1870 built on the north side of Presque Isle. Presque Isle is the French term for "almost an island".Some say that it is haunted.

This is the eastern terminus of Interstate 22, near Birmingham, Alabama. The western terminus hasn't been finalized yet; it's a new interstate.
