Bingo! I have no idea what people are referring to about fighting on the boards. Where? When? During the old days, there used to be a fight a day, 15-page battle threads. Those days are long over.

Sometimes people just leave a site because they move on. They get married, start college, get a job, whatever. To say that there is fighting on Chit Chat is pure baloney. I pride myself on stopping fights, not allowing gang-ups, and keeping the drama away. Fights, tension, negativity, drama, lol. All I see are Appreciation, birthday, congratulations threads, and that sort of thing. Who's fighting, on the boards? I'm posting about eating cheesecake with a fork or a spoon.

You're actually very correct, Sarah. It wasn't my intention to create more drama. I was trying to adress the fact that it was my wish thay everyone here could be friends. It might be a good idea if Janice locked this thread. I certainly don't want to add to the drama.

And what goes on outside the boards is no one's business. If it doesn't come here, it shouldn't matter.

I hope you can work out your problems at home, Lauren.

Also, as much as it pains me to say this, I think that some members don't come around as much, or at all anymore, because of the zero tolerance for fighting. Let's face it, some people love the fights, the drama and those 15-page battle threads, with everyone venting their spleens, verbally beating the crap out of each other. There are some people who find it boring to just chat at a board where the rules are enforced. There are those who don't want peace and calm.

I'm afraid you're right Janice. I remember all those fights and a bunch of members left around that time. It seems like that once they start something they like to go away and watch what happens in their absence. I guess just chatting does gets boring to them after awhile. It's sad in a way.

I would like to add that this thread was never meant to belittle the wonderful job that Janice does as moderator here. I'm sure everyone will agree with me that Janice is the moderator to end all moderators. She has always done an amazing job running Chit Chat.

When I used the term "boards" and said that there was conflict on the "boards" I didn't mean specifically chit chat, but that there was conflict between members here. This thread was simply my hope that we could all get along and all be friends. It was also never my intention to stir up drama with this thread. Infact, that was exactly what I was trying to avoid. I wish we could all just be happy because every single person here contributes to making this site what it is.

yeah, that's true. i think that and the fact that a lot of us have grown up are why there isn't nearly as much fighting as there was a few years ago. though i still think it made the boards interesting.

I think some people might think I'm a bit hostile on here. I'm really a nice person but sometimes I can be strongly opinionated, which is something I wouldn't change about myself. Sometimes on the internet people can come off as being "bitchy" when they're really not just because of incapability to show bodily gestures and emotions. The point is that I'm sorry if I ever hurt anyones feelings, I really didn't mean to.

I agree. Often times, I'll let a heated discussion thread continue, regarding a topic. As long as there are no personal attacks, those threads are a blast. I draw the line at members openly gossiping about another member.

Thanks for clarifying that, Mike. I also know that you had good intentions in starting this thread. I find that online life, like offline life, is difficult. There's so many different personalities and opinions, coming together. In some respects, the internet is more difficult because, as littlebelle stated, we don't have the advantage of body language, facial expressions, eye contact, etc. I also think that some people get a false sense of bravado, because they're often anonymous. I guess anybody can get tough behind a keyboard, lol. Not you, Mike. You're a sweetie.

Has there been any fighting lately? I haven't noticed any problems.

I haven't been working that much in the last several weeks, so I have been hanging around the message boards quite a bit, and I haven't seen any knock down drag out fights that have plagued the message boards in the past.

I honestly don't understand why things escalate into an all out war every two or three years.

As a long time member of Sitcoms Online, I hope we can all put our problems aside and behave like the proper adults we are.

The problem is that a lot of the crap going on right NOW is going on off-site...which then eventually hits the board.
