Exclamation 'Days Of Our Lives' On The Bubble For Cancellation For The Fall of 2014!?

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Matt-Lau...l-1045738.aspx

A little item from Matt Lauer's new $100 million deal to remain with NBC's Today could give fans of NBC's lone soap, Days of Our Lives, pause for concern. Lauer's new pact, which includes a development deal that would afford Lauer a stake in a syndicated show, could see the popular "Today's Professionals" segment being spun off as either a syndicated series or a fifth hour of Today, reports TV Guide.

If the potential project does become slated for syndication, it wouldn't necessarily mean anything for DAYS. However, were it to be pitched as a fifth network hour of Today, the 45-year-old sudser's timeslot on the Peacock dial would likely be in jeopardy. DAYS has a contract with NBC that extends through 2013. Here's hoping the new writing team can get ratings up and fast!

Days of our Lives is my favorite show. I have been watching it for decades. I would be so lost without it.

I could give a crap about Matt Lauer.

I am with you Steffy, I have been watching DOOL on and off for years. Heck, it's on at work. LOL

It would truly be a dark day if Matt Lauer ended DOOL.

The first time I saw DOOL was in the late 70s. My mom watched it. I was just a kid, so I didn't know about too much of what was going on. But once 1980 rolled around, I got more interested and then I started watching it all the time. I never miss an episode. Damn that Matt Lauer!

Unfortunately, those petition things never work. They didn't save Guiding Light, As the World Turns, One Life To Live or All My Children. All those shows were kicked off their networks.

A FIFTH hour of Today? Why wouldn't they consider replacing Matt with the Fourth Hour or Third Hour or both? I think people are jumping the guns with DOOL being cancelled because of Matt.

I agree. If they cancel Days, they will do it in 2013 before Matt's show even comes along. I think if anything it would replace the fourth hour of Today.

This actually doesn't surprise me although I do have a lot of memories of watching Days. I still love Jack and Jennifer even though I haven't watched the show in years. I knew this day was coming and I kind of expected it sooner than this to be honest. But what really shocks me is NBC thinking that Matt Lauer is worth $100 million dollars! I can't even fathom that kind of money.
