I loved Dee's line when she saw Tiran Porter, the bass player and only black guy in the group. "You don't look like no brother to me." Or something like that.

I would think, though, that The Doobie Brothers being the kids' favorite group was more to appease mainstream America, because, wouldn't the Commodores or Earth, Wind & Fire been a more popular group among inner city kids?

This is by far my favorite episode - I haven't seen that episode in 25+ years - and still remember the tape recording falling out of Re-runs pants!
