I was fortunate enough to find a Color 16mm print of Elizabeth Montgomery
presenting at the 1974 Tony Awards, interestingly to Christopher Plummer with whom she would later Star in 1981 in the TV Movie When the Circus came to Town. The 1974 Tony Awards: Robert Preston of The Music Man Fame introduces her: "Here's a Young lady who comes by her Theatrical career honestly, both her mother & father were performers & they encouraged her & she won a theater world award for her Broadway debut in Late Love." "But she has recently been spending her time in Television, Miss Elizabeth Montgomery." Liz walks out in a Beautiful long flowing gown with two pleats near the bottom. Her hair is like season 7. Liz after she has walked out: "This year the words Best actor in musical have more meaning then ever before. It's not enough just to be able to sing, Well these 4 gentlemen can sing or act with equal ease. The nominee's for best actor in a musical are, Alfred Drake in Gigi, Joe Morton in raison, Christopher Plummer in Cyreno & Louis J. Stadlin in Candied. And the winner, Ohhhh, Haha(as she struggles to open the envelope neatly) Chris Plummer" Chris runs up to the stage takes his Tony & Kisses her on the cheek, he then as Liz recedes into the background gestures to her to join him, she demurely declines with her hands at her side but gesturing no this is for you. He says, "What a nice way to see Liz again, I haven't seen her for years", she laughs," I wish she'd come back."He then gives his acceptance speech while you see Liz over shoulder from the neck up. After his speech they walk off to the side of the stage, her first, him trailing behind her, the whole thing is about 3 min. long & i have it in both Color & B/W versions in my collection. Now i am on the trail of the Emmy's appearances she made. Larry Tate ![]() |
