Default WABC Wins May 2007 Sweeps in NY; Highest Rated Channel in the Nation!

Channel 7 is Top Station in New York and the Nation in May'07 Nielsen Sweeps

"Eyewitness News" Continues to Win Every News Race (5am, 6am, 12pm, 5pm,
6pm and 11pm) Extending its Lead and Beating Any Two Competitors Combined
at 5pm and 6pm (M-F).
WABC-TV Accounts for 5 of the Top 10 Regularly Scheduled Primetime Programs
in The Tri-State Area: "Grey's Anatomy", "Dancing With the Stars-Results",
"Dancing With the Stars", "Ugly Betty" and "Desperate Housewives".

NEW YORK, May 24, -- WABC-TV is New York's most watched broadcast station for the twenty-eighth consecutive rating period, delivering a 4.1 rating/11 share in DMA Households, Monday-Sunday Sign-On to Sign-Off in Nielsen's May'07 sweeps, providing WABC-TV with a huge 52% lead over its nearest competitor. With each rating point representing 73,670 Tri-State area TV households, Channel 7 attracts a larger audience
than any other station in the nation.

In the morning news race, WABC-TV's "Eyewitness News This Morning" with Lori Stokes and Bill Evans dominates its competition, beating its closest competitor at 5am (WNBC-TV) in DMA Households by 73%, and at 6am (again WNBC- TV) by 39%. Both margins of victory are larger than they were in May'06, when WABC-TV beat WNBC-TV by 5% at 5am and 21% at 6am.

In the Adult 25-54 demographic, "Eyewitness News This Morning" is equally dominant, with its margin of victory ranging from 31% (6am vs. WNYW-TV) to 233% (5am vs. WCBS-TV or WNBC-TV).

At Noon, "Eyewitness News" with Lori Stokes and Bill Evans beats its competition on WCBS-TV by 36% in DMA HH, while more than doubling (138%
advantage) "CBS2 News at Noon's" Women 25-54 delivery.

WABC-TV's "Eyewitness News at 5pm" with Diana Williams, Sade Baderinwa and Lee Goldberg outdelivers the WCBS-TV's and WNBC-TV's 5:00 - 6:00pm newscasts combined in both DMA Households and in the key Adult 25-54 demographic! Head to head, "Eyewitness News at 5pm" outdelivers "CBS2News at 5pm" in HH & A25-54 by 93% and 54%, respectively and beats "Live at 5 & News 4 You" by 143% (HH) and 233% (A25-54). Both of these margins of victory over WNBC-TV are vastly higher than a year ago (47% - HH & 108% - A25-54).

"Eyewitness News" continues the complete domination of the competition at 6pm as the Mon-Fri "Eyewitness News at 6pm" with Bill Ritter, Liz Cho, Lee Goldberg and Scott Clark also beats "CBS2News at 6pm" and "NewsChannel 4 at 6pm" combined in both Households and Adults 25-54. On an individual basis, "Eyewitness News at 6pm" outdelivers WCBS-TV by 135% and WNBC-TV by
97% in DMA Households and in A25-54 by 92% and 130%, respectively. The 97% DMA HH advantage over WNBC-TV represents more than a two-fold increase in the margin of victory WABC-TV's had over WNBC-TV in May'06 (42% margin).

The Mon-Fri "Eyewitness News at 11pm" featuring Bill Ritter, Liz Cho, Lee Goldberg and Scott Clark complete the total weekday victory for
WABC-TV's "Eyewitness News". WABC-TV easily won the 11pm Late News race in DMA HH and Adults 25-54, beating WCBS-TV by 29% and 74%, respectively; and beating WNBC- TV by 15% and 22%, respectively. These margins of victory for
WABC-TV at 11pm are all higher (especially versus WNBC-TV) than they were in May'06, when WABC-TV topped WCBS-TV in DMA HH & A25-54 by 26% and 42%, respectively and had a 2% advantage over WNBC-TV in DMA HH, while tied in
A25-54 (0% advantage).

On Saturday and Sunday Morning, "Eyewitness News" with Michelle Charlesworth, Phil Lipof, Jeff Smith and Jenna Wolfe delivers the key Adult
25-54 demographic. On Saturday, "EWN" from 6-8am posts a 1.5 A25-54 rating, 400% greater than WCBS-TV's 6-7am newscast and 200% more than WNBC-TV. On Sunday morning, the "EWN" combination of 6-8am and 9-10a delivers a 1.0
A25-54 rating, 25% greater than WCBS-TV's Sunday morning entry (6-9am) and, with its 89,000 average A25-54 viewers, beats WNBC-TV's Sunday morning local news (7- 9am) by 3,000 A25-54 viewers (both stations average a 1.0
A25-54 rating).

At 11pm on the weekends, "Eyewitness News at 11pm" featuring Joe Torres, Sandra Bookman, Heidi Jones and Marvel Scott, continues the dominance WABC-TV and "Eyewitness News" showed during the week. In DMA Households, WABC-TV outdelivers WCBS-TV by 21% and WNBC-TV by 13%. In Adults 25-54, Joe, Sandra, Heidi & Marvel knock out the competition with an
80% margin over "CBS2News at 11pm" and a 29% victory over "NewsChannel 4 at 11pm".

At 6:30pm, WABC-TV is a major reason why "ABC's World News Tonight" with Charles Gibson has become the #1 nightly network newscast in the country. On WABC-TV, "World News Tonight" is not only #1, but a dominating force, with both its 6.3 DMA HH rating and 2.4 Adult 25-54 rating beating "CBS' Evening News" and "NBC's Nightly News" combined!

In Primetime, ABC/7 is #1 in NY DMA Households, its 6.9 HH rating, 6% higher than runner-up, WNYW-TV (6.5) and 11% higher than #3 station, WCBS-TV (6.2). 2.5 A25-54 rating.

Other highlights for ABC7 in the May'07 sweeps are "Grey's Anatomy", "Dancing with the Stars - Results", "Dancing with the Stars", "Ugly Betty"
and "Desperate Housewives" respectively ranking #3, #5, #6, #7 and #8 among regularly scheduled Primetime programs (airing at least twice in the time slot) within New York DMA households.

In Adult 25-54 ratings, these same Primetime programs rank #4, #5, #7, #9, and #8, respectively, with the addition of a 6th show, ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" at #10.

With Regis Philbin's return to "Live! with Regis & Kelly", "Live!" continues its dominance of daytime television. Its 4.8 DMA HH rating is 55%
higher than its closest competitor in the M-F 9am-4pm Daytime time period (CBS2News at Noon - WCBS-TV - M-F 12n-12:30p - 3.1 HH rating). In W25-54, "Live!'s" 1.9 rating is 19% higher than the competitions closest W25-54
competitor (Dr. Phil - WCBS-TV - M-F 3-4pm -1.6 W25-54 rating).

In May'07, WABC-TV's syndicated programming, "Rachel Ray", "Millionaire", "Oprah", "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune" all continue to be the #1 program in their respective time periods in both HH and most key demographics, including Adults and Women 25-54.

Speaking of which isn't Eyewitness News already in HD? Especially since their news set burned down last week. Another thing, isn't WABC going to change their Eyewitness News package to the one used by KABC-TV New Generation.

Why do the Nation Numbers matter if WABC can only be seen in NYC/NJ? It's not like the channel is offered on a Cable Service

Eyewitness News is already in HD. The set didn't burn down. It was just damaged a bit. The background mainly. The newsdesk is fine.
