AmericanLife TV Network, the only independent network devoted to the Baby Boomer generation, marks Black History Month in February, with a full slate of programs examining the Black experience, both in America and in Africa .
The network also begins a special salute to the classic ‘60s spy series The Man From U.N.C.L.E., with the series’ original pilot film and three exciting two-part episodes. - Programming highlights for Black History Month include: * Two episodes of I’ll Fly Away, the award-winning civil rights drama set in the 1958 South: · Sunday, February 11 The acclaimed pilot episode (9-11 p.m. ET/PT) won a Humanitas Prize for writing and also received six Emmy nominations. · Sunday, February 25 The “All God’s Children” episode (10-11 p.m. ET/PT) won an Emmy for its writing. - An encore presentation of last month’s special A Journey to Darfur, with George Clooney and his father Nick visiting the ravaged area of Darfur in western Sudan (Sunday, February 4, 7 p.m. ET). This is followed at 7:30 p.m ET by an encore presentation of Moments That Changed Us: Diahann Carroll, in which Nick Clooney interviews the singer/actress about the implications of her stereotype-shattering role in the late ‘60s sitcom Julia. - AmericanLife TV’s salute to The Man from U.N.C.L.E. includes: Wednesday, February 7 * Mr. Solo, the rare 90-minute series pilot (9 p.m and 10:30 p.m. ET; 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. PT) Wednesday, February 14 * “The Alexander the Greater Affair,” a two-hour episode featuring Batgirl Yvonne Craig (9-11 p.m. ET/PT) Wednesday, February 21 * Vera Miles and Star Trek’s James Doohan star in the two-hour “The Bridge of Lions Affair” (9-11 p.m. ET/PT). Wednesday, February 28 * “The Concrete Overcoat Affair,” with guest stars Joan Blondell and Jack Palance in (9-11 p.m. ET/PT). This two-parter is preceded by an I Spy episode featuring a young Ron Howard in a change of pace from The Andy Griffith Show (8-9 p.m. ET/PT). - On Saturdays in February, AmericanLife’s Color Honeymooners (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) features a bevy of famous guest stars: Saturday, February 10 * Bing Crosby, Maureen O’Hara and Bert Parks Saturday, February 17 * Oscar winner George Chakiris plays a shoplifter Saturday, February 24 * 60s cult fave Joey Heatherton plays a go-go girl (Heatherton also guests on AmericanLife’s I Spy, Wednesday, Feb. 7, 8-9 p.m. ET/PT) - In addition to Joey Heatherton, other stars making multiple AmericanLife classic TV appearances in February include Adam Arkin and M*A*S*H’s Wayne Rogers: Adam Arkin: Monday, February 19 * Arkin guests on Harry O (8-9 p.m. ET/PT) Tuesday, February 20 and 27, and March 6 * Arkin guests in the final three episodes of China Beach (9-10 p.m. ET/PT), set in 1985. The two-parter that ends the series “Hello, Goodbye” received an Emmy nomination for Best Writing and features a visit to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. Wayne Rogers: * Rogers guests in two episodes of The F.B.I.
