Tired of the lousy sitcoms these days? Fear not, we have an exclusive look on a sitcom that has been floating around--and it has NOT aired on television! An indepenent sitcom pilot has been produced about workers at an office running an online dating service. The pilot titled, The LEK, is an office-based comedy about the an online dating service trying to bring a new spin to mating in the age of technology. The LEK pilot was independently produced by David Kurtz and Chandler Evans. It stars Colleen Fitzpatrick (a.k.a. popstar Vitamin C), David Earl Waterman (whose credits include Drew Carey, Mr. Show and Pilot Season) and the World Air Guitar Champion, David S. Jung.
The bizarre sense of humor found amongst tech workers certainly lends itself to a sitcom...and that's what they tried to capture. Considering that independent television is all but dead, their only hope was to spread The LEK around and hope for the best. I have viewed the pilot and it is well written with smart lines and great bunch of characters that you will love. If you like The Office on NBC, you certainly will love this pilot. It has the smartness of My Name is Earl, Sons & Daughters and Arrested Development. Let's hope someone from television sees this pilot and brings it to television because it certainly can work on TV. For more info and how can you can view it, see my blog post here.
