The Bee Gees' first public performance occurred in late December 1957 (estimated to be 28th December 1957) at the Gaumont cinema when they were children living in Manchester. Barry was 11 and Robin and Maurice had turned 8 on 22nd December. They had intended to mime to the album (it has been guessed that the album may have been the Everly Brothers' Wake Up Little Susie) but on the way to the cinema Maurice dropped it and it broke so they had to sing for real.

Doc: Don't worry! As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely 88 miles per hour, the instant the lightning strikes the tower, everything will be fine!
