After Patrick gets into an argument with fashion critic Joan Rivers (as herself) over a trivial matter, Alex discovers that not one fashion designer will create an Oscar gown for her in fear that Alex and her garments will be thrashed by Ms. Rivers on the red carpet. Patrick must seek the aid of Alex's ruthless agent, Elliot (Peter Dinklage, "The Station Agent," "Elf"), whose solution could land the teacher in even more hot water. Melissa Rivers makes a guest appearance as Stevie's date.

Oh dear. . .looks like like we'll have to cross the mouths of two Rivers! :p Sink or swim! What's Joanie gonna do, anyway? Criticize Patrick's untucked shirts? Poke fun at Stevie's striped shirts (and Johnny Rotten haircut)? Watch out!

This wasn't a great episode - an episode of any television show featuring a guest appearance from Joan Rivers is bound to fall short - but it was still funny. Patrick got a baptism by fire in Hollywood mores and learned how to fight dirty - showing Joanie pics of her old outfits was very effective - and Cheri was funny with her Rivers impersonation. Alex getting a dress from a store? Wow - reality, what a concept! :D And Stevie dating Melissa Rivers? Whoa!

P.S. Steven Hanson is probably the best U.S. senator West Dakota ever had!

Once again, Stevie Hanson brings the funny! Finally, they seem to be figuring this guy out. You can stick a character like Stevie anywhere and he will shine. I also loved Cheri's Joan Rivers imitation. That face she made had me rolling. Peter Dinklage is just solid. When he was asking Patrick if he can play dirty (the lifting of his leg) was all time. Hopefully, the writers can take this show to the next level. There are moments of genius but in order to really stand out and become a hit, it ALL has to be great. Keep up the good work!

I thought this was one of the funniest episodes they've had so far. I was laughing hard at much of it. Alex's agent was great. Asking Patrick if he could play dirty. :rotflmao: Peter Dinklage was excellent casting. (I actually didn't know his name till I read this board.) Want to see more of him.

Cheri's impressions of Joan Rivers, throwing her head back with that manic grin. Great stuff! Admittedly, I'm no fan of Ms. Rivers, but I think her presence was justified, given the topic of the episode. The quarrel between her and Patrick probably illustrates quite accurately the extreme pettiness celebrities can practice. Would have been equally petty, though, for Patrick to not fix the situation, and not make Alex's big moment as great as it could be, just because of a ridiculous disagreement. So, use the game to your advantage. :)

Fifty-one states in the union now. Senator Hanson from the great state of West Dakota has my vote. :D

Scale of 1 to 10, I give it a solid 8, but leaning toward a 9. Way to go!

I really liked the parts with Alex's agent and the dress designer.
