I read a big article on NBDL league in the newspaper last week. NBDL stands for national basketball developmental league. They only have about 6 teams in that league & those guys are hungry to play in the NBA. NBDL's games don't have nearly as much attendance as NBA games. I feel bad for those guys cause i know they wanna play in the NBA so bad & when they do get a call from a NBA team, it's only for a 10 day contract which ain't jack. NBDL's players make good money though. It's not as good as the NBA's salary but i read how much NBDL's players get paid. A lot of the teams in the NBDL are only southern teams. Jeff Malone who used to be a star shooting guard on the Washington Bullets in the 80's & early 90's is a head coach for Columbus, Georgia in the NBDL. His team is called Columbus Riverdragons. He's fat now. He's picked up a lot of weight compared to what he used to look like when he played in the NBA. He's not as big as Oliver Miller who's in the NBA LOL but he's medium fat. What other professional minor basketball leagues are there besides CBA & NBDL?

the NBDL is only good for a few things.
staying game ready
exposure
These same players used to go overseas...come back...get invited to a camp...have to make the team.
now a team calls for a player and he knows he will be working for a minimum of 10 days. A lot of those guys just look like they dont have any balance or skills...just height.! I think John Starks is a coach there also. If you look at the players called up I would put Rafer Alston at the top. I know Kareem Reid was on the hornets summer team I was shocked when he didn't make the league.

I've seen a commercial for the NBDL a few times & they had Bobby Simmons of the Clippers, Mike Wilks of Houston Rockets, Anthony Johnson of the Pacers, Chris Andersen of Denver Nuggets, Rafer Alston of Miami speaking about the NBDL saying they were happy to be playing in the NBA. It's tough when college players don't get drafted & high school players get drafted in the NBA. I'd be pissed off if i went to college to play basketball & i didn't get drafted & i see a high school player gets drafted over me. I think a career for a NBA player is at least 5-6 yrs. A lot of them are lucky that they last longer than that. There are so many people i can name who only lasted a short time in the NBA. That's why a lot of players who are playing in the NBA should be grateful & don't get in trouble off the court cause nobody wants to play in the minor leagues.
