If there are Whitelighters than why aren't their evil counterparts called Blacklighters? Instead they call them Darklighters. Now I was thinking that if there are Darklighters than maybe instead of calling the good guardians of the Charmed ones Whitelighters they could call them Lightlighters. But that doesn't sound right at all. So I'm sticking to the entire Whitelighter/Blacklighter idea.

Anyone have any ideas?

I agree with you!! Blackligthers like the darkside compare to Whitelighters on the brightside. Blackriders wear the "black hats" while Whitelighters wear the "light hats"!! Makes so much sense!!

I see nothing wrong with the names. I guess White Lighters are called White Lighters comes from "White Light" You know how it goes with angels.. etc. Like in the 4th season episode "Brain Drain" when Leo gave Piper the pain killers she said

"I see white lights around you." "That's just the pain killer honey." "No you're my White Lighter."

The whole angle thing goes with the White Light thing.

Dark Lighters kill White Lighter but they also guide people into doing the wrong thing. They guide them to the dark side. I can't remember the episode's name but it's from season two, the one where Piper tells Leo that she loves him and wants to be with him and is going to dump Danny Boy. I think it was "Murphy's Luck" Murphy this lady was doing so well in life helping people and then all of a sudden things were going wrong for her. A Dark Lighter guilded her down fall. Prue used magic to take away her bad luck but it bounced onto her. The Dark Lighter guided Prue to killing herself if I remember right but then Leo got his powers back and Saved The Day.

White Lighters are angels who guide good beings and Dark Lighters and very bad people who kill White Lighters and guide people to the dark side.

Ms Garthe Knight - I understand what you are saying, but think about it: Whitelighters powers are "white" magic. Blacklighters powers are "black" magic. White goes with black. Light goes with dark.

I know this is a trivial thing, but little things like this tend to bother the hell out of me.

I undestand what you mean, but the name White Lighter doesn't come from "White Magic" it comes from "White Light" as in angels and all because that's what White Lighters are angels.

Dark Lighters guide people to the dark side, and kill angels (Meaning White Lighters) take away your White Lighter and with no one their to guide you, things would be pretty dark.

What I'm saying is they got there names from what they do, not their side of magic.

Dark Lighters aren't really the opposite of White Lighters. Dark Lighters can kill White Lighters with their arrows and that's about it. A White Lighter as so many powers compared to a Dark Lighter. White Lighters informs and guides good witches. Dark Lighter guide anyone they want to ruin. Dark Lights can black Orb, but they can't heal... etc and all the other powers we have seen Leo use in the past. Dark Lighters are just evil beings, they aren't angels gone bad. Where a White Lighter is a angel.

Well then maybe they should be called Black Darkers? Because White is light, and black is dark. ;)

You say that White Lighters guide witches and that Dark Lighters guide anyone they want, most of the time into darkness. Well they do that because they're eeeevil, so technically they are doing their job: They are doing the opposite of what White Lighters do.

I am still not satisfied... haha.

So that the White Lighters wear like the white hats to identify themselves as the good guys!! Dark Lighters have special powers but pity Light Lighters don't have the special powers and can be destroyed easily!!
