View Full Version : Three Reasons why TV LAND needs me in their Programming Department for TV show ideas

1.Carol Burnett and Friends

2.Cheers

3.Mister ED

PBS should have the rights to all of these programs. TV LAND's selection of TV Programming really STINKS. Bad choice of Programming for any time of the day. Who agrees?

Carol Burnett should be aired at 4am. Why give a crappy show like that a 8pm slot. Here is my timeslot

4am-Carol Burnett
4:30am-Mister ED
5am-Cheers

I don't care for any of the three. I don't like how TV Land only airs AITF now with one new episode per day(other slot is a rerun), they should have kept it from 8-9 and gave Carol Burnett the 4-5 slot.

I know what you mean. Carol Burnett belongs on 4am to 5am-on C-SPAN-LOL

Mister Ed is one of my favorite shows. I don't care what time it's on, since I've got most episodes on tape. I just thought I'd stand up for the show.

Carol Burnett, I think is funny, but I don't watch it at all.

Cheers, well, I wouldn't care if TV Land took it off.

I think "Mister Ed" is one of greatest shows that TV Land has to offer. It's wholesome, clean entertainment.

I can vouch for #2! I thought they were a classic TV station! Cheers belongs on TVLand no more than Britney Spears' music* belongs on an oldies station!

* This is NOT a slam against Britney, but who would you expect on an oldies station, her or Lesley Gore?

Carol Burnett & Friends is a top-notch variety show, which, in my opinion, is better than Saturday Night Live. I'm now a loyal watcher!

Cheers is a classic show, which deserves to be on TV Land. After the second season finishes, I'll begin to watch it on TV Land.

Mister Ed is just fun.

Carol Burnett and Friends is a very popular, very cherished variety show. Look at how the ratings were for that reunion special on CBS if you need proof

Mister Ed is a timeless cult classic that is never shown on any other channel so good for TV Land

I'll admit Cheers is overplayed between TV Land, Spike, and syndication but it is an all time classic

OK just look at the ratingsfor Carol Burnett from 1967 to 1979 and here is what I found.

The show was never in the top ten from 1967 to 1975, and never in the top 30 from 1975 to 1979. The highest the show ever finished that was 13 and that was after the 1969-70 season. And that was also before

All in the Family
Maude
Sanford and Son
Jeffersons
Alice
Good Times
Chico and the Man
Happy Days
Laverne and Shirley
Mary Tyler Moore
Rhoda
Three's Company.

Carol Burnett never finished better than any of those Sitcoms. Like I said Carol Burnett STINKS

Just because it didnt get good ratings.... doesnt mean its a bad show.

Take Arrested Development for example.... the critics love it, and it does have a following.
But its hardly a ratings hit.
But still a good, make that great.... sitcom.

I agree with you about ratings don't determine if a show is good or bad, but benjamoom told me to check out the ratings for Carol Burnett when it aired on CBS like they were IMPRESSIVE and they were not. Even Welcome Back Kotter, and What;s Happening finished better than Carol Burnett

I said the reunion special from a couple years ago. It proves that people love the show and it has become a classic. "The Brady Bunch" was never a huge hit in its original run but look at it now.... the ratings for the reunion special exceeded expectations and proved how much people still love her show

Here's my opinion. I know Carol Burnett is a funny show, but I didn't know that the show never finished above top 15. I'm surprised. Anyway, when I saw the marathon last week, it was a different kind of comedy than I usually watch. Even if I find the show in a slump, I can't take Carol Burnett off, because my mother really likes the show. As for Mr. Ed, it's interesting, because of the talking horse. For Cheers, wait a few more years, then I'll get into Cheers. Don't worry, Sitcom Analyzer, MTM, Rhoda, HD, and L&S are among the tops on my list.

I disagree. I think Carol Burnett and Friends is one of the best shows of all time, and it never fails to make me laugh. I'm not a big fan of Cheers and Mister Ed, but I know they have a lot of fans and are both a part of our pop culture. I think all three were good programming acquisitions. The only real complaint I have is that their programming isn't as diverse as it once was, and some shows are aired too much.

Change the channel. Not everything YOU like is going to be on TV Land. Is complaining all you do? When you even complain it doesn't even make sense. Try looking up things before making a fact, you're making a fool out of yourself. Happy Days on too much is totally false. It USED to be on 4-5 times a day.

And for the last time, why do you think you're opinions are FACTS???

Happy Days now only airs at 8:00am and I think for an hour on Saturdays in the afternoon.

It aired quite a lot when it came back in May 2002. It first aired in January 2002, then left February 24th, came back May 6th. It's been aired since. Now that it's soon to be starting over, it's going to take quite a while to get through a rotation. Because shows that have double takes it goes faster and seems like the show has been on longer. I love Sanford and Son, but when it aired back-to-back all last year, it seemed like it had been on MUCH longer.

Once I tape a show, I personally don't really watch it anymore on TV unless I get a spare minute, so I would also like some more shows added. What's Happening!! Good Times and One Day at A Time would be a nice start. I think Laverne & Shirley needs to be brought back too.

Solomon, didn't you like Happy Days?

First of all, how do you know everything that was said in that conversation? Because unless you were there, you don't. Second of all it's not like Florida is a common name like Mary or Jennifer, so I don't buy your bull about the script writer(Eric Monte) screwing up.

Lear wouldn't be responsibe for the names of the characters. I'm just saying that the creation of Good Times was not very good. My mom who was 24 when Good Times first aired said she was confused that the husband had a different name and that the family lived in Chicago. She said that she knew that Good Times had nothing at all to do with Maude when she watched the first episode in February of 1974
