Most Normal Character

The most normal character is a toss between Dave and Catherine. In some ways I think Catherine is more of a regular person.

Well let's see, we can take out Jimmy, Matthew, Bill, Beth and Joe. That leaves Dave, Lisa and Catherine.

I think Dave started off normal but it wasn't long before he went crazy too. His was more subtle than the others however. Lisa seems just so insecure that it makes her crazy alot of the time. I think you're right, I'd say Catherine is the most normal. Maybe that's why she left WNYX for a job in London.

The thing about Catherine is that she doesn't really have any eccentricities like the rest of the cast does. I think what makes Lisa abnormal is her mathematical abilities. A normal person could never do math problems in her head like she does. And she gets obsessive about getting credit for her own ideas. :) Dave's eccentricities can be seen in episodes like "Security Door" and "Arcade", and even in episodes like "Chock", where we come to find out he was once in an all-male accapella group. As for the rest of the cast, all their eccentricities are obvious throughout the show, and I think that's what makes all the individual characters so interesting.

Actually, I think that Walt could be considered one of the most normal characters on the show, in addition to Catherine. He was only around for about 4 episodes, but in that time he never displayed any behavior more outrageous than exhibiting a slight case of hero-worship for Dave. I think Jimmy said it best, though:

"The kid's so normal he makes Richie Cunningham look like a crack-smoking porn freak."

Dave was the most normal. The way he reacted to sitations was usaly normal (except being afraid of people finding out he was origianlly from Canada). Lisa and the rest reacted strangly to things. Excentricisites are not all that keep people from being normal. Catherine Duke liked to slap men, not something most women do a lot of. Lisa freaked out easily with silly things (going to work in a burger place and loosing sight of her career goals, wanting a baby immediately, etc.) I would say Dave was the ONLY one who didn't overeract in normal situations.

I'd say you're right. However, there were times in seasons four and five, where Dave seemed to have lost his sanity and was just one of the gang. But for most of the run of the show, Dave was the normal guy at WNYX.

I can't wait for season 4 to come out on DVD. I honestly don't remember most of the episodes in the last two seasons.
