I have a question for you, Solomon...how do you think "The Jeffersons" would have fared if Lionel Jefferson, as portrayed by Mike Evans, was the focus? Do you think he would have been up to the task? Would it have been interesting to see what Lionel does outside of George and Weezie's orbit? Who some of his other friends were?

What do you think?

I think the show would have been ever more of a classsic if Lionel was involved more. I just don't understand why Mother Jefferson was more involved that the First Lionel. And the other funny thing was We really never saw his male friends. That was a interesting point you brung up. It was just Lionel and Jenny. I defintely would have been interested in seeing Lionel out of George and Weezie's orbit.

PS-when he came from the party singing jungle boogie, i would have liked to see who was at the party-LOL

I think it would've been cool to see unflappable Lionel, as played by Mike Evans, taking charge of the situation...putting the dried-up old guy who owned the building in his place, teaming up with Florence to outwit ol' George, hanging out with his college buddies and his homies from the old neighborhood...a strong brother in charge, who possesses his father's survival tactics and his mother's compassion...

Ah, well...we can dream, can't we?

I also think it was wrong for Lionel not to be in the opening credits with George and Louise in season one. His character existed before Louise and George and he was KICKED to the side.

I agree! It would have been more of a classic if Mike Evans had stayed with the show! His portrayal of Lionel in it of itself was classic! Nobody could play that character the way he did!
