The actress that plays Kelly now is being replaced. Rumor has it, that a person from Y&R is taking over the role. I forgot who it is but she plays Nikki. Please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

No, the rumor is that Heather Tom who plays Victoria will be taking over the role. In my opinion, it is a BIG mistake on her part. Leaving Y&R that is. Victoria will never be the same.

Victoria is gonna play Kelly? Oh no. I liked the Kelly that was playing that character now.

Heather Tom did not willingly leave Y&R.
Don't know all the details, but she was asked to work only 2 days a week, so they wouldn't have to pay her, her whole salary.
It wasn't the Bells who asked her to take a paycut, but Sony, who I guess owns the soap.
Cost cutting seems to be happening, on all the soaps.

Yeah, I know the story, but I just wish something could have worked out. I hope she's not replaced, because it wouldn't be the same.

What really gets me about Heather Tom leaving the show, is that although I do understand soaps are in trouble and changes have to be made, there is more dead weight on the show, which they should get rid of first.
Chris & Paul are completely useless, but LLB, because she's Bill Bell's daughter, will be on Y&R for life.

I don't think Chris & Paul are completely useless. Although they may not always have exciting storylines, I think they are a vital part of the show now. And Chris will be involved in the huge storyline with Victor's lawsuit.

A better story for Paul would be to remember he has a son, not to fawn over "Saint Christine", like almost every other male on the show.

I like Christine, but I don't think she should be praised so much. In all reality, everyone doesn't love her. My favorite scenes are the ones between her and Phyllis. Michelle Stafford seems to enjoy doing those.

I've noticed by all your posts, that you are a huge fan of the show.
Do you mind if I ask you, how long you have been watching Y&R?
Some of the SO Boards make me feel old, and I don't know how far back in the show's history, the other posters go back to.

Well, I've only been watching it every day for 5 years, but I've watched it on and off since the early 90s. I know the history of the show and characters pretty much.

Heather Tom left Y&R for contract reasons. Her contract was up for renewal and the show was not being fair, they wanted to reduce her salary and reduce her work-load, something like 2 times a week. She balked and the offer and walked. "One Life To Live" snapped her up like the day she left "Y&R". Smart move too, she is a much better actress than Tracey Melchoir who was playing the part. I like Heather Tom in the role, but to me she will never be Kelly Kramer, that honor will ALWAYS go to Gina Tognoni who played Kelly from 1995-2002.

Yeah, but Heather said the money wasn't the factor. She said she needed to work more than 2 days. I think she will be back on Y&R someday.

We can hope. But lets be realisitc do you HONESTLY think that money played no role at all in her decision? Get real, i'm sure it was the deceding factor.

I think it played SOME part, but I don't think it was the deciding factor. I know that she took some pay cuts in the past, so I don't think that finalized her decision to leave. And yeah, I am very real about it.

Not 100% sure of this, but I do not think that Heather Tom's contract was up for renewal. I read somewhere, that she had signed a 4 or 5 year contract, recently.
They wanted her to only work 2 days a week, so they wouldn't have to pay her, and she was not the only actor/actress, asked to take a pay cut.
I read on another Y&R forum, the actors who play Brad&Ashley, were asked to & agreed to take pay cuts.
I also don't think that money was the deciding factor, in Heather Tom leaving.
Heather Tom as been on Y&R since she was a teenager, is talented, young, doesn't have kids to support, so
her situation would make it easier for her to say no to working less, than it would be for the actors who play Brad&Ashley.
