The Munsters and the Addams battle it out over the title of Television's First Family of Fright / America's First Family of Fright. Which family do you think deserves the title? and why? Give reasons and specific examples if need to.

Technically "The Addams Family" came first. However, I like "The Munsters" more. They're both funny, but the thing that makes "The Munsters" better is the duo of Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis. The original series from 1964-66 simply could not be successfully remade without those two key actors. However, The Addams Family has been remade successfully. Which proves not that The Addams Family is better, but that The Munsters was so special and can't just be remade with different actors.
My vote:
The Munsters (1964 - 1966 ; 70 episodes)
Herman Munster ........................... Fred Gywnne
Lily Munster .................................. Yvone DeCarlo
Grandpa ....................................... Al Lewis
Marilyn Munster (1-13).................. Beverly Owen
Marilyn Munster (14-70)................ Pat Priest
Eddie Munster .............................. Butch Patrick

Sorry, I have to disagree. The Munsters were not as endearing. The Addams were superior. The duo characters of Gomez and Morticia were more developed. The "characters" not the actors make a show good. Otherwise people would've stopped doing Shakespeare long ago. This coming from an acting student.

I vote Munsters. I just liked it a lot better. The Adams Family was too weird, with all the French talk and such.
