Do you feel safe to fly???after 9/11??

After 9/11 do you still feel safe to fly,in the usa or any where else. The guy who had the box cutter and other things to see if the security gaurds will see them and he said that he leftthem where the bag handlers and others can see and they were on board for 6 weeks, mabe the security gaurds and other airport personal are getting to relax. I think (to me) it is still ok to fly,what is your thoughts on it,The cleaning people found the items that he left on the plane. At least the claning people seen them,The guy said that he wanted to see how long they would findthem and it was still easy to get thing on board planes like box cutters, etc. So again are we safe in the skys in america?

I've been on donzens of airplanes in my lifetime, so no, 9/11 didn't scare me at all. Since 9/11, I've flown about four times domesticly, and this winter will be my first time internationally. Before 9/11, I've flown internationally about 5 or 6 times. I love traveling and exploring other countries, so why would I stop?

Since 9/11 I've flown from Michigan to Pennsylvania, from Pennsylvania to Germany, from Germany to Michigan, from Detroit Michigan to Marquette Michigan, Marquette back to Detroit, Michigan back to Germany, France to England, England to France, Germany to Michigan (first class!) and from Michigan to Pennsylvania. Not one problem - nothin to be paranoid about, people :)

not quite sure I understand your story - but for the amount of flying I've done post 9/11 - security is still very tight.

Flying is still the safest way to travel. I've far more frightened to get into a car that a plane.

No, I still don't feel safe and I, one time, when my mother was going to Venezala on a church mission chip just nearly a year after 9/11, I begged her not to go and almost got on my hands and knees and kept telling her drive a car or sail but not to fly. But she ensured me that everything would be fine and since, she has taken in two more flying missions. Just as long as if there is no small planes, I worry about her less!!

Um, it certainly has everywhere I've gone. Random searches and very thorough security - both internationally and abroad.

And contrary to popular belief, they certainly are RANDOM. There's no racial profiling going on that I could tell. Me, white, 21-year-old, female student got picked for random search three times. My grandparents, both my uncles, and my sister have all been picked for random search at one time or another. I feel safer knowing that. Going through security is a headache - it'll take at least an hour, ya gotta take off your shoes and all that stuff, but nobody minds.

Everyone really needs to calm down about flying. There are hundreds of flights that take off every day around the world - you only hear about the bad ones. My dad flies all over the country every week for his business - in some very small planes. Everytime he calls me I begin with the question "what state are you in?" cuz I can never keep track. He's probably taken at least a hundred flights since 9/11, probably more - never had a problem.

Yes, everyone should chill about flying. Millions fly everyday, it's PERFECTLY safe. Yes, accidents happen, but still Flying is a HECK of a lot safer than any other form of transportation. You've got a better chance of being killed in the car on the way to the airport then you do being killed in a plane crash 10 times.
