I also missed Everybody Loves Raymond (ELR). Yah, what happened? I forgot to tape it while I was gone to band practice.:(

I only saw the first half hour. Feel asleep, lol...
Not a mention of Simon. As if he never existed. Guess too much mention is not a good thing.
Anyway, Eric says a sermon in church urging everyone to make a commitment and help one person, or do one good deed, something like that. Kevin wants to do a neighborhood watch, and wants Lucy's help and so they can work together, etc. She's not thrilled with the idea. Annie, naturally, is at her father's. Sigh. One 1 minute phone call so far. She's also unhappy to hear Cecelia is there at the house, again, helping with the twins. LOL, it was so funny when the twins couldn't wash their hands in the sink (they can't reach the faucet to turn the water on) they turned to the toilet. Nice to see Happy. Ruthie made an effort to get to know the new girl, Jill, who wasn't interested. Ruthie also told Peter he was smothering her and they needed space. She said this several times before Peter finally got the hint. Peter and Ruthie asked Eric what good deed he would do, and he said helping the church, etc. But then realized he wasn't helping just one person and phoned a very surprised Carlos (Mary's husband; no, Mary wasn't seen) and invited him to dinner the next night. Well, Carlos ultimately couldn't board the plane. Also, Roxanne and Chandler argue more, and also go to the same place to volunteer (with children whose parents are in prison; not sure of what the organization).
That's the last I remember. I only saw the first half hour. The jist of it was helping people I guess. A nice episode, and really true.

Although they really didn't deal too much with Simon's departure ( :( ), they actually did mention Simon several times (but it may have happened in the 2nd half hour - I don't remember):
1. When Peter told Ruthie he wanted to help her out more since Simon wasn't around and Ruthie told him she would be okay.
2. Cecelia told Annie that she liked babysitting the twins because it helped her deal with Simon leaving.
3. At the end of the episode, the twins were saying their bedtime prayers and when they got to the end they said something like this:
David: And God bless Simon
Sam: Yeah, especially Simon
David: We miss him
Sam: Alot
David/Sam: Amen
It was actually very sweet!
Anyway since TVJunkie missed some of the epi, here's what happened.
Eric urges his congregation to find something they're good at and use it to help someone.
Ruthie decides to make friends with the new girl at school who always sits by herself. The girl, Jill, doesn't want to be friends because she doesn't trust Ruthie. Ruthie eventually learns that Jill is Muslim and got made fun of at her old school. Ruthie tells Jill that doesn't matter to her and they become friends. (Didn't we already have this plot when Ruthie made friends with Yasmin?)
Peter wants to help Ruthie but she tells him she needs space to do her own things and that they will be better friends if they each have their own interests.
Kevin wants to start a neighborhood watch program with Lucy. Lucy doesn't want to do this but instead of actually telling him this, she avoids him and misses their meeting. FINALLY, she tells him she would rather do Habitat for Humanity.
Eric invites Carlos to fly home for dinner. Carlos is scared that Eric is mad at him for being Catholic so he almost doesn't come. But he ends up making it to Glenoak and is relieved to find out Eric just wants to get to know him better.
Annie is in Arizona helping her dad and becomes upset with how much time Cecelia is spending with the twins. It turns out this is because Annie is guilty that she wants to spend time helping her dad and can't be there for her kids. Cecelia offers to continue helping out the family.
Chandler is still in love with Roxanne, they kiss, she tells him they can't get back together, whatever, blah blah blah, she goes on a date with a teen counselor. I don't know, I don't get it, either.
As for my opinion, I thought the episode was okay. Good overall theme to the episode.
-I thought they could have been more original with Ruthie's storyline because it was basically a recycled Yasmin story.
-Don't like Cecelia so don't particuarly like anything she does, but that's just me.
-The twins were cute tonight, especially when they were praying for Simon. Awww
-I'm still liking Carlos.
-Kinda tired of the Chandler/Roxanne "romance".
-Glad Lucy's going to be doing Habitat for Humanity again. But she should have told Kevin that from the very beginning!

It was actually very sweet! [/B] LOL did you see the blooper during that scene? When they are saying their prayers at first you see the tall one on the left, well the camera shifts over to Happy for a second and when it returns to the boys the taller one is on the right.

Dang, I wish that I would have remembered to tape it. It seems like a really good episode. Just wondering, but did the man who plays Annie's dad on the show not die? I remember someone posting that over here. If so, what are they doing to hide his death...just not showing him on camera? Also, that sounds like a very sweet scene with Sam & David.
Yes, Graham Jarvis, the actor who played Annie's dad, died recently.
So far, all of Annie's scenes when she has been in Arizona have been phone conversations to her family back home and they haven't needed her dad to be in those scenes. I don't know how they will eventually handle it.
I also heard that Catherine Hicks (Annie) is scaling back her role this season. That's probably why they are sending Annie to see her dad so often.
