I'm only a Freshman, but I'm already thinking of colleges... I'd like to stay in MA, or at least on the East Coast lol. I'm thinking of BC, BU, Wellesley, Emerson, Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, it all really depends on what I want to major in...
Also, I'm thinking about going into the Air Force, so that's a factor also...

I would KILL to go out of state somewhere, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen, so I'll prolly end up going to ISU or UIC....I hate Illinois.
If the world were perfect, however, I would go to the School of Visual Arts in NY. (That's where Genevieve went + teaches)

Im a senior and starting to apply...my top schools are Gettysburg,
Loyola, Mary Washington, and Bucknell- mostly small liberal arts, suburban or small towns- Im so adapted to being an only child that the whole idea of dorm life makes me nervous and i dont want to leave all my high school friends- but im starting to feel like im ready to move on.
I want to major in history and double-minor in public relations and writing. And I want to keep going w/ my music and theater but am a little too skeptical (or call it realistic) to want to make a career of them.

since I am thinking of majoring in business
If I went to BC, strong possibility, I would consider going to the Caroll School of Business
Also I am going to look at John Hopkins because they have a strong business school and its a lot easier to get into then their medical school
I dont kno, I am going read more college books...
I like UCLA, UC-Berkely...but its so far away (a good and bad thing...)

i want to go to a small private college thats about 20 mins away. its one of the best schools for journalism in the midwest. there's also a 10,000 dollar scholarship for hs journalists that I want to apply for next year.

I am for sure not staying here in California. I want to get really far away from home for college and then come and live in San Fransisco afterwards. All the colleges I'm looking into are in the East Coast. Colombia is my first choice, and has been since 5th grade (I'm such a geek....). They've got a really great journalism program. I'm also thinking about Boston University. I have so much information on all these colleges.
KT....what you should do is go to collegeboard.com. Make a username and then go to the place where you can sign up for information from colleges. It's free (both the signing up and information). It makes everything a lot easier knowing what is out there. :)

I'm only a freshman yet, but I'm definately going to go. My parents want me to go to Syracuse University, because it's the closest good one. I actually want to go there, it is a good school after all.

U of C at Boulder...as if nobody knows, :p. I was looking at UIC for a while, but then I decided that 35K a year was waaaay out of my price range. since I'm in Colorado, I'm already getting $10,000 in scholarships, so it's worth it to stay here. Plus, I love the Denver - Boulder - Fort Collins metro area. So much better than Western Colorado.
It's nice to see that some of you have already started thinking about College. It's never to early to plan ahead.
Try to learn everything you can about the schools you'll be looking into. And always have some backup schools in mind.

oh I know....I already belong ;)
my mom wants me to look at BU too...but im more of a BC fan...thing is if I go to either BC or HC (holy cross) I could get a lot more money from there, so its swaying my decision a lot because I dont want me or my parents to be burdened by college debt
Michigan State University
Love it, love it, love it :D
I grew up in Michigan, so it was in-state for me. Still, you can always do study abroad and get far away from your parents ;) Germany's a very nice place

My freshman year was bad. I was too far from home (which a lot of people would like!), I had a roommate that became the bitch from hell, and I didn't really like the school.
But once I transfered, it was great. I loved not being stuck in the same building all day long. Getting a schedule once with no Friday classes rocked. The profs were generally pretty cool and down to earth. The work didn't really get hard until my senior year(s). So many more things to do. Really awesome classes (gah...I never knew I could take a class to learn how to write a screenplay!). I really liked it. But after 5 years, I was burned out!

There you go...you could still go to ISU and be out of state...Iowa State University. ;)
Really though, Iowa State rocks...if you actually want to live in Iowa.

I would like to go to the University of Alabama, which is only like an hour from my house. I really hope to be in there marching band, but if I cannot get in there...I wanna go to Auburn University, or some other one close to Alabama. I just really want to get a band scholarship of some kind somewhere.

I loved ISU. UNI was alright I guess, but it just wasn't me. And I liked Ames better than Cedar Falls.
Anyway, I went to both, so if you ever have questions, just ask. :)
